00:00At a May 7 movie promotion, actor Aishwarya Raghupati was shaken after a reporter asked if a sleeveless blouse was part of a plan to beat the heat.
00:30The reporter claimed he was praising cotton sarees and said Aishwarya could have just said yes or no. But she said she felt cornered and later said there is a time and place for such questions. This wasn't it.
00:43On May 19, Aishwarya called out the Facebook posts the reporter had written to defend himself and called it a crooked justification.
01:00Some reporters in the audience jumped in to defend their colleague but Aishwarya stood her ground. She asked why no one spoke up earlier. Event organizers cut her short but she later took to Instagram calling out the male ego that still lingers in professional spaces.
01:17It's disheartening that even today many men in our society still carry a sense of male ego and chauvinism. What's even more disappointing is when such behavior comes from someone like a reporter who should know better.
01:28This wasn't new for Aishwarya. In 2023, when actor Kool Suresh tried to forcefully garland her at an event, she had pointed out that the act crossed personal boundaries and affected her mental health. She was last seen in the 2024 film Captain Miller with Dhanush.
