Lo ha annunciato il presidente Usa, Donald Trump, parlando nello Studio Ovale della Casa Bianca."Durante la mia campagna elettorale ho promesso che avrei costruito uno scudo per difendere il nostro Paese da attacchi missilistici in arrivo dall'estero, e oggi annunciamo di avere selezionato una architettura per un sistema allo stato dell'arte che dispiegherà tecnologie di nuova generazione nei domini terrestre, marittimo e spaziale", ha detto il presidente Usa.La costruzione del Golden Dome è un progetto "cruciale per la sopravvivenza" degli Stati Uniti d'America, ha detto Trump. "Il costo totale per il suo completamento è stato stimato in circa 175 miliardi di dollari", ha detto ancora. Il Golden Dome quando sarà operativo? "Entro la fine del mio mandato, e sarà il migliore di sempre: sarà in grado di intercettare anche i missili lanciati dallo spazio" ha aggiunto il presidente Usa.
