The quick thinking and alertness of loco pilots foiled a bid to derail two trains in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, May 19. According to the Hardoi police, unidentified miscreants tied wooden blocks using earthing wire to the railway tracks between Dalelnagar and Umartali railway stations. The loco pilot of Rajdhani Express (20504), which was enroute Dibrugarh in Assam from Delhi, spotted the wooden blocks and applied the emergency brake immediately. A second attempt was made to derail Kathgodam Express (15044), which runs between Uttrakhand's Kathgodam and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. This was also foiled thanks to the loco pilot's alertness.
