00:00Okay, so this is a complete Dota 2 guide for League players and beginners starting from 2025.
00:07I'm using League of Legends as a reference because it is the closest game that comes to Dota 2.
00:11This is not a Dota 2 versus League of Legends video. I'm not here to tell you which game is
00:16better because they are two completely different games. Dota 2 is an explosive 5v5 mobile game.
00:23You are going in playing as a character with four other teammates aiming to battle and take down
00:28your opponent's throne. Unlike League of Legends where the game revolves around hitting skill shots,
00:33Dota 2 offers overpowered characters with insane abilities. This guy can stop time. This guy can
00:40create cataclysm. This guy can bomb your entire screen. This guy can create thunderstorm globally
00:46around the map. And this guy can AFK in your base and kill everyone. When everyone is overpowered,
00:53no one really is. And this is Dota 2. Also, if you're wondering, there are no standard surrender
00:59feature in Dota 2. The comeback mechanic is pretty decent. So no matter how far you are behind,
01:04there is always a way back. The games in Dota will tend to be a little bit longer than League,
01:08but I will say quality over quantity. And if I mention don't care in this video, it means that
01:13you'll probably learn it along the way and you shouldn't stress too much about it at the start
01:17of the game. If I'm missing out on anything, my viewers, please just leave it in the comments and
01:22help the newer players. Thank you. Okay. When you have downloaded and logged into the game,
01:27you will be introduced to a short tutorial which I recommend you complete it. This is for you to get
01:32used to clicking things. Once you have done that, or even if you don't want to do it, it's fine.
01:37Go to the top of your screen and click Heroes. These are all the characters, or we call them heroes,
01:42available in the game. Every hero can be countered by another hero. Every hero is free to play. There
01:48are no pay to win mechanics in Dota 2, and this is 100% a game of skills. The only time you'll be
01:55spending money is when you're buying cosmetics for your characters. And I can tell you that it's very
02:00tempting to get these cosmetics sometimes. So just beware. As far as I know, the more complex heroes
02:07will be locked until you play a certain amount of games. You can click on any hero and press Demo
02:12Hero to try out their abilities. Okay, time to play. To fight the game, press Play Dota under Unranked,
02:19Select or Pick and Kill for a game. To play Rank, you will need to unlock it by playing for 100 hours.

03:19Basically, what this does is it customizes your hero for different play styles. And the guide will

03:30spells are the one that they recommend you to skill. Then open your shop. These are the recommended
03:35items. You just have to follow them. Then we're going to move on to the first objective of the
03:39game, bounty runes. Bounty runes are these yellow color things. Once you take it, everyone on your
03:45team will gain money. Bounty runes will spawn on four different positions. And your job is to collect
03:51as many bounty runes as possible at minute zero. Starting from minute zero, the bounty runes will spawn
03:56once every four minutes. Then you're going to go back into your lanes. There are three lanes in Dota 2.
04:03The top lane, the middle lane, and the bottom lane. Every character in Dota have different roles.
04:08And depending on the role, there is a farm priority. But you don't care. Just go to any lane you want.
04:14Usually, mid lane is a 1v1. The top lane is a 2v2. And the bottom lane is also a 2v2. So you just go
04:22wherever you want to go and just fill up any lanes that are empty. Don't overthink about roles and lanes
04:26and whatever you play. Just play the game. It doesn't matter. It's fun. In these lanes, there will
04:30be creeps. By killing the creeps, you will gain gold and experience. Experience help you level up
04:36and get more skills. Gold will help you buy items and become stronger. In Dota, everyone will be given
04:43a courier. And you're going to use this courier to deliver the items that you have purchased in base.
04:48Your courier will be walking to you until you hit level 4 and it will start flying.
04:54That's kind of cute, right? I mean, you are allowed to hold 6 items at a time. You have 6 item slots,
05:013 backpack slots, 1 neutral item slot, and 1 TP scroll slot. The 6 item slots are your main item slots.
05:09Once your items are on these slots, you are using these items. If you play the game enough,
05:14you will realize that 6 slots are not enough because you're going to buy a lot of items.
05:20And when the items are not in use, you will place them in your backpack slot. Once you put it there,
05:25your items are not in use until you switch them back. I will explain neutral items later on,
05:30but let's talk about TP's. TP stands for teleport. When you get into the game, everyone is given
05:351 teleport scroll. This will allow you to teleport to any allied buildings around the map to help
05:41your teammates. It is a one-time use, so once you used it, you have to buy another one. If you die
05:47to an enemy, you will gain a free TP scroll. And if you click on your teammates and you see many,
05:52many TP scrolls, this means that they are probably feeding. Damage time in Dota is very complicated.

06:25There is nighttime that gives you lesser vision. Certain heroes have more vision in the night and
06:30lesser vision in the day. Going into the trees doesn't make you invisible. But there is fog of war,
06:36which means that if your opponents are standing on this side of the tree and you're standing on the
06:40other side of the tree, you cannot see them. Likewise, they cannot see you unless there are
06:45vision from other sources. You are not invisible, you are just in a fog. When you're on the high
06:49ground, you can see the low ground. And when you're on the low ground, you cannot see the high ground.
06:54That is another fog of war. But for all of this, you don't care. You just run at people and try to kill
07:00people. Starting from 2 minutes, the river rune will spawn a water rune. There is this item in a
07:06shop called a bottle. When you buy it, you get to use it 3 times. To refill your bottle, either you go
07:11back to base or you pick up one of these runes. Most of you will probably not buy a bottle. So you
07:18don't care. You just need to know that water rune gives you HP and mana. Water rune will only spawn
07:23at 2 minutes and 4 minutes. 3 minutes. If you are playing on the top lane or the bottom lane, you will
07:29notice this weird thing. This is called the lotus pool. At 3 minutes, lotuses will spawn in the
07:34lotus pool and will spawn in 3 minutes interval. All you need to do is to walk into the lotus pool
07:40and stand in there for a few seconds and the lotus will go into your inventory. When you click it,
07:45you get to heal some health and mana. If there is an enemy in the pool, no one will get it and you
07:50will have to fight to the death. Whoever walks out first, the opposing team will get the lotus.
07:55But that is a coward move. Most of the time, we would rather die a warrior than to run away
08:00a coward. So yeah, fight to the death. 5 minutes. This is where the day turns into night and people
08:06will start running around trying to kill one another because of poor visibility. But you

08:25on the river instead of water runes. These power runes will spawn at 2 minutes interval starting

08:36meat to fight for these runes because they are quite overpowered. There are 6 power runes in a game.
08:41Amplify damage. It amplifies your right click damage and your spell damage. Arcane rune. This will
08:46reduce your cooldown and mana cost for your spells. Haze rune allows the user to run at
08:51max movement speed. Illusion rune gives you 2 illusions of yourself. Invisibility turns you
08:57invisible until the effects run off. And while you're invisible, you are very tanky. Degeneration
09:02rune heals you up back to full HP and mana. And Shield rune. It gives you a damage barrier.

09:38stand in the wisdom pool and wait and you'll get it. This wisdom will spawn once every 7 minutes.
09:44Similar to the lotus pool, if you have a player from each team standing in there, nothing will
09:49happen. Whoever leaves the opposing team will get the rune. So yes, another fight to the death. 15
09:55minutes, it's usually tormentor time. Tormentor is this shiny building. If you kill it, one person on
10:00your team will gain an item that improves their spell. The item will be randomly given to one of the
10:05poorest player on your team. That is to balance the rich and the poor. But at this point, I don't
10:11recommend you try to kill it. There is a specific way to kill it and I don't recommend you try because
10:16you are likely going to kill yourself before you get to kill this thing. I mean, even pros kill
10:20themselves when they try to kill this thing. So you just ignore it, you don't get it. Next, Roshan.
10:25Roshan is like the boss of the map. He's the strongest creep on the map. If you kill Roshan, you will gain
10:29Aegis. Aegis will grant the user an extra life. After a few minutes, either use the Aegis or the Aegis will
10:35expire and then Roshan will spawn and you get to kill Roshan again. There are two Roshan pits on
10:40the map, the top and the bottom. Initially, Roshan will only spawn at the bottom side and starting

11:57to select the effect of the item and the right side is to select the stats that you want to
12:01gain from the item. So just mix and match. But honestly, it doesn't really matter. You don't
12:06care. You just pick whatever, you know. And if you ever walk past this thing, this thing is called
12:10a watcher. And if you click on it, this thing will give you vision. But if you walk into one that is
