The U.K. and EU have struck a wide-ranging deal on defense, trade, travel and fishing rights. It's the most significant reset between the two since the U.K. left the European Union in 2020.

00:07British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hailed the agreement as a new era for relations between the two sides.

00:25The deal will see reduced checks on food exports to the EU and allow European fishers continued access to UK waters.
00:34It also establishes a new defence and security pact and will eventually allow British travellers to use e-gates at more European airports.
00:42Opposition politicians in the UK say the agreement will take the country backwards.
00:46The UK left the European Union in 2020 after a divisive referendum four years earlier.
