Friendlies tour gives MU players insight into how big the club is outside Europe, says Giggs

Manchester United's football legend Ryan Giggs, who is in Malaysia to promote the club's friendly against the Asean All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur on May 28, says the players need to enjoy their year-end tour of playing friendly matches in Asia as it will broaden their perspective to understand how much support the club receive from the fans in the region. 00:04Yeah, it's great to be here, back in KL, back in Malaysia.

00:08From my own experience, it's a great part of the world to come and play

00:12and just to see how big Manchester United is and how much support we have in this region.

00:30Oh, it's a great goal!

00:32I vaguely remember 16 years ago playing here

00:37and I remember getting an amazing welcome off all the fans

00:41and a really enjoyable time here.

00:43Personally, I've been in these games and played in these games

00:46and know how special it is for the opposition, for the fans.

00:50For many of the fans, it'll be the first time that they're seeing them live

00:53and football and sport in general is always better live.

00:57So, to see your heroes live in the flesh rather than on TV, it's a memory.

01:05It's a memory that no one can ever take away from you

01:08and if you're fortunate to get an autograph or a selfie with these players, it's amazing.

01:13Players will be excited to come even though it'll be a long, tough season.

01:18Slightly different from when I came, you're preparing for the season,

01:21now it's the end of the season but still, you have to enjoy it

01:24and in a way it's a big thank you for all the support through the good times and the bad times.

01:30Especially at this time when the club maybe isn't winning leagues and doing so well,

01:35that's when the club needs the support of the fans, not only in Manchester but all around the world.

01:40I'm not going to lie, it's difficult for a player at the end of the season to go on tour

01:45but also, you have to do it and you have to enjoy the experience of coming to this part of the world.

01:51Some of these players may not have come to this part of the world before, young players,

01:56and see just how big Manchester United is and just how big the support is around the world.

02:02I do love coming to this part of the region because I've been doing it for 30 years

02:06and we get such a good welcome and the fans are so knowledgeable and so dedicated.

02:12Like I said before, you know, Champions League games in the middle of the night for you,

02:16getting up watching the games is true, true supporting and true passion from the United fans.

02:23To celebrate Manchester United to play in the Europa League, what we are going to do is

02:28we will arrange 528 special edition jerseys of the Europa League final edition

02:37and then we will give away to all the fans who purchased tickets through a lucky draw

02:43as an appreciation for them to come and support Manchester United and hope they win next week.
