German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk talk to the media in Albania following a call with US President Donald Trump. They discuss Russia ignoring demands for a ceasefire in Ukraine. Chancellor Merz says their diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine "unfortunately failed", while President Macron says that it is "unacceptable" for Russia's President Putin to ignore ceasefire demands, and to have excluded the US at ceasefire talks in Istanbul.

00:00The diplomatic efforts that we have been given to now have been given to Russia's ready to do the first steps in the right direction.
00:09But we will not give up, we will continue, and we will be well on the European side, together with the Americans.
00:15As a few days ago, in Kiev, we have, with President Zelensky,
00:20returned to the rendezvous that were held in Istanbul,
00:24where the Russian delegation decided to exclude the American delegation.
00:28We have, at the moment, had a discussion with President Trump,
00:33to first consider it unacceptable for the second time that Russia, President Putin,
00:41do not respond to the demands that were made by the Americans,
00:45supported by Ukraine and the Europeans.
00:47There is no ceasefire, and there is no meeting at a decision level,
00:52and no response to the ceasefire.
00:54The Russian position is clearly unacceptable, and not for the first time,
00:59and so as a result of that meeting with President Zelensky,
01:02and the discussion with President Trump,
01:04we are now closely aligning and coordinating our responses, and we will continue to do so.
