00:00As many as 14 people died, while six others were in critical condition after consuming

00:05spurious liquor in Majita area of Punjab's Amritsar on May 12, 2025.

00:20The police confirmed that four people were arrested, including the main accused Prabhjeet

00:24Singh, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the illegal liquor network.

00:28In July 2020, at least 112 people lost their lives in the huge tragedy that hit Tarantaran,

00:52Amritsar and Gurdaspur. Similar incidents have occurred repeatedly, exposing long-standing

00:57issues of illegal liquor rackets and nexus between local authorities and the liquor mafia.

01:02Despite multiple crackdowns, the illicit trade continues to thrive, raising serious questions

01:07about enforcement and accountability.
