00:13of microbes inside of one person.

00:15We simplified it for the film,

00:17made it just one microscopic presence inside.

00:24The idea of scale seemed like

00:26a very fun thing to play with.

00:28It hasn't been done extensively in the Trek universe,

00:31and the idea of presenting a Vulcan,

00:34which on the exterior is a very familiar and comfortable race,

00:38but how it would be in actuality this other thing

00:41seemed to suit both the world of Section 31

00:43and seemed to be a very fun writing opportunity for me.

00:48Oh, come on. That was funny.

00:50Nanakin, he is but a tiny blip,

00:54a microbe, a tiny little virus.

00:56So what if he had this small man syndrome

00:59where he's really frustrated with everything is big.

01:02All big people stuff everything up, you know, all the time.

01:05And to be called cute or to be called little

01:09would be the most insulting thing that you could say to him.

01:12Gail Shamer! My cubs outlasted dinosaurs!

01:18I would piss in your boots until you go all rusty like this!

01:21He's incredibly powerful, he's incredibly astute,

01:23he's incredibly wise and tech-savvy and manipulative.

01:27The terminology that I gave was,

01:28if there was, like, a teenager playing, like, a console game,

01:33could you imagine this incredible teenager

01:35spends hours of his life just, like, playing, playing, playing, playing, playing,

01:38if he didn't just have two hands but he has, like, eight?

01:41Like, what advantage would that give him?

01:43How would he move?

01:44How would he be able to dynamically use the environment around him,

01:48so zip from one place to one place

01:49and then be up and be here and be there?

01:51And with the gymnastics background,

01:53it helped really create something that I think was really unique.
