one of the biggest problems that people tend to have when they are trying to hit
00:07
the ball further with their driver is that they're not setting up to it
00:10
properly when it comes to setting up to the ball with the driver it's really
00:13
important and the ball is positioned opposite the inside of your front heel
00:17
the reason for that is we want to collect the ball on the way through to
00:21
that finish so with an iron we are up and over the ball we're going to hit down
00:25
on it with the driver we want to be settled behind the ball because we want
00:29
to be sweeping it or collecting it off the tee so making sure that your zippers
00:33
or your buttons on your top aren't straight up and over and your spine
00:37
isn't straight up we want to ever so slightly settle that behind the ball so
00:41
this just means settling a little bit of weight gently onto this back foot here
00:47
so it drops your back shoulder a little bit away this arm stays very relaxed it's
00:51
a good idea just to swing it back on the club and from there you'll be able to
00:55
swing right the way through to that photo finish that's so important when you're
00:59
trying to get a bit of distance and get that ball soaring down the fairways so
01:03
with getting yourself into this really decent setup position we want to make
01:08
sure that we've got that weight gently settled on the back foot so you've every
01:13
single tee area on the course you've got a nice little up slope even be a
01:17
shallow one so you can stand on that and give yourself that feeling of being
01:21
able to settle onto that up slope so just set up on an up slope set up where the
01:26
ball would normally be and just wiggle yourself and settle that weight gently onto this foot so the
01:31
shoulders end up perpendicular to the slope what you can then do when you come
01:35
on to the actual tee area is you can stand there set up to your ball and just settle
01:39
again and almost reignite that feeling that you had on the slope on the tee
01:44
probably one of the biggest faults that I see is lack of body rotation and lack of
01:49
wind up in the back swing when it comes to the driver the swing it seems to be powered
01:54
solely by the arms going up and down usually this is down to poor posture
01:58
people are just sat like this at a dress rather than in an athletic position
02:02
being in an athletic position means that we can rotate and wind our body up and
02:07
turn our back to the target when you're not in that position your body can't turn
02:12
because you're not in balance if you're not in balance you'd probably end up
02:15
falling over so as a result our arms go straight up and straight down the ball
02:20
ends up carved down the fairway it feels a lot of effort yet the distance just
02:24
isn't there so making sure at the top of the swing that you can feel a turn so
02:31
you're turning that left shoulder under your chin that lovely rotation and that
02:36
will give you a lot more power it'll generate a lot more speed off the cover face
