00:07Malaysia on May 18 after 11 memorable years at Zoo Nagara. The pair will depart at 6.30am for
00:14the Animal Hotel at KLIA before flying back to China later that morning, marking the end of their
00:20Malaysian chapter and the start of a peaceful retirement in their homeland. Zoo Nagara confirmed
00:26that there will be no public farewell event. The pandas were placed in isolation on April 19
00:32to prepare for the journey, frustrating fans who were not given a chance for a proper farewell.
00:39Fuwa and Feng Yi arrived in Malaysia in May 2014 under China's Panda Loan Program,
00:45commemorating 40 years of Malaysia-China relations. Upon their arrival, they were given new names.
00:52Fuwa became Xing Xing, which means prosperity, and Feng Yi became Liang Liang,
00:56which means pretty. They quickly became national icons, drawing over 1.2 million visitors in their
01:03first year and made history by producing three cubs during their stay, Nuan Nuan, Yi Yi and Sheng Yi.
01:10Malaysia will welcome a new panda pair in 2025 under a renewed 10-year conservation agreement
01:17signed during President Xi Jinping's state visit in April. As Malaysia bids farewell to Xing Xing and Liang Liang,
01:24the country is preparing to welcome a new panda pair.
