00:00Hello my name is Ian and I'm the proprietor of Walsall Bonsai Studio and Nursery and here we

00:26have a small group of larch these are actually Japanese larch and bonsai is

00:33really the art of transforming normal trees what we would see grown in the

00:39landscape into miniature representations of them and a lot of people think there

00:44is a specific dwarf species but they're not they're the normal trees that you

00:49would see growing in the landscape and it's the techniques that we apply in

00:53terms of keeping the roots trimmed and training the upper branches in a certain

00:58style so we get more growth down the bottom to fatten up these branches keep

01:03the the top under control and then eventually we can start to recreate the

01:07look of ancient trees a lot of the bonsais that you might see in garden centers and

01:15supermarkets will be tropical trees normally sold as indoors it's very

01:20difficult to keep indoor trees the heat and humidity during the the winter so

01:28outdoor trees a lot easier to keep and certainly if you'd like to come along and
