00:01On the 13th of August 2022, Stephen Green broke the Guinness World Record for the longest single event triathlon.

00:08It was 7 mile open water swim, 181 on the bike and a 46 mile run.

00:16It was a record that invited challenge.

00:19I thought if I'm doing it, I'm going to do it. I'm going to take the men's record. I'm going to go past Stephen.

00:25They said, oh, well, you might not need to go as far because no woman's ever done it.

00:28And I was like, no, no, no. If I'm doing it, I'm going past him.

00:35I looked at what Steve did and I thought, I do think I could do this.

00:41And I think it was when I finished my Ironman, Steve went, right, the world record's yours for the taker now, let's do it.

00:50There's going to be times when their heads drop.

00:52There's going to be times where they might fall off the bike, they might collapse,

00:56they might fall asleep while they're actually doing the event.

01:00I gave myself probably six months of training, which isn't a lot to think that I've never done a triathlon in my life.

01:07Had to learn I was swimming that time as well and get used to clipping myself into a bike.

01:13Compose yourself, ride out nice and gentle, however you feel.

01:16We had lorries going past us at 60 miles an hour with the horns on.

01:26With just two of us cycling on a dual carriageway.

01:29It was awful.

01:31It was horrendous.

01:33My body shut off at that point.

01:43I couldn't bend my feet.

01:47It's like my ankles were solid.

01:50I was not my normal calm self on the event and I blew up.

01:55It's mental, Dad.

01:56Absolutely what's happening here is ridiculous.

01:59Stick to the f***ing plan.

02:00I also know what pain they're about to go through and I know that everything has to be bang on in the team.

02:08The fueling, the hydration, the calories, the vehicles have to be right.

02:13Everyone in the support team has got to be absolutely bang on it.
