00:00Cinema's always kind of, for me, it's always kind of been my number one passion.

00:04And then, you know, I happened to sing and make music and kind of felt like a little detour,

00:12you know, a little cheat code to kind of get into this.

00:15And I always wanted to make movies, and I always wanted to make music with movies.

00:20So it's, during that journey, you always kind of hear and see the DNA of cinema in my albums,

00:27in my music videos, in my performances, in my stage.

00:32So it's always just been a part of me.

00:36The, it was always the third part, yeah.

00:40I didn't know what I wanted to say at the time, but I knew I was making some sort of saga.

00:46But that was more just for myself.

00:48I kind of wanted to establish that I wanted to make something that can end a story.

00:53And lo and behold, something actually happened to me that, you know,

00:58I felt like whatever I had in store, I had plans prior, threw it out the window

01:04and focused 110% on the story.

01:07I'm curious if there was any lessons that you learned from the Idol that you took into this project.

01:14Yeah, I mean, naturally you learned.

01:15That was the first thing we had ever done.

01:17And you always learn, you know, you're working with great, great artists at the time

01:21and still really close with everyone on set, from the set.

01:26But it was a learning experience.

01:28This felt a little bit, had a little bit more joy making it.

01:32It felt a little bit more personal.

01:34Idol didn't really feel like mine at the time.

01:37This one felt very much personal.

01:39And, you know, I'm saying this now, Trey really brought that.

01:43And Jenna, of course, brought the joy back in filming.

01:48I was juggling a million things at the time, you know, and I was on tour.

01:53Dealing with personal stuff as well, too.

01:55But that's happened before.

01:58I was able to still rely on my, you know, superpower.

02:03You know, I can go on stage and it's this cathartic experience with the fans.

02:08I can shut my world off for, you know, an hour and a half, two hours

02:12and just lose myself in my performance.

02:15And when it got to a point where it was affecting, the lines were blurring,

02:21you know, it was affecting my stage performance

02:24and it was affecting people spend a lot of money to come to these shows.

02:28You know, they spend money, they save up for a year.

02:31And it got to a point where, oh, my God, I can't give them what they want.

02:37My voice is failing me.

02:38And I knew at that moment I needed to sit down

02:41and figure out what was going on up there.
