Devotees engage in scuffle moments during Goa temple stampede

00:00In Goa, the first images of the deadly stampede that has taken place in Goa.

00:04The scuffle broke out which led to the stampede.

00:07The stampede took place at a temple fair in Goa.

00:10Seven people are dead and over 70 have been injured in this temple.

00:15In the stampede that took place right outside the temple.

00:18The injured are now being treated at the hospital.

00:21My whole team, along with the Secretary of Health, Arun Mishra, Dean of Goa Medical College,

00:34Advisor to Health, Drazela Raojo, my medical superintendents, Dr. Rajesh Patil, Varsha Munsh, Uday Kakhodkar,

00:42and the whole team has been active all night.

00:44Heads of department in Goa Medical College and our team has been on the field the whole night

00:48from the time we heard of the incident.

00:50Saini, 108 Head, has also been active.

00:52We are trying our best to see that we are able to reduce the casualties.

00:5580 people have been injured and brought to the hospitals.

00:58And in addition, the whole focus of the health department is to save the lives of the critically injured

01:03that are amounting to about 10.

01:05And more than 6 to 7 people have lost their lives.

01:07My condolences deeply go to the family.

01:09Whatever we can do as the Ministry of Health and the State Government, we will do.

01:39The Chief Minister of the State, Pramut Sawant, has already visited various hospitals speaking with the injured.

01:44The State Government is now making sure that they provide all the help to those who have been badly injured.

01:50Support will also be given to the family members of those who have lost their lives in this stampede.

02:01It led to a stampede at a temple fair in Goa's Shirgao region.

02:09Mustafa, the first images are horrific.

02:11We can see how the scuffle broke out which later led to this tragic stampede.

02:16Unfortunately, seven people have lost their lives.

02:19Well, of course, you can say that it's a sort of religious profession.

02:23But the way people have behaved, the crowd which had gathered at one place,

02:28that has, you know, put the safety of thousands of people who had gathered here at risk.

02:33And there were women, there were children who were part of this ceremony.

02:35And that is where the tragic loss of the families have happened at such an auspicious day.

02:41You can also see the Goa police trying to vehemently control the situation,

02:46bringing it under control, but the crowd was too much to control.

02:49And somewhere, you know, multiple people being allowed to gather at such a small spot

02:56is somewhere the situation went out of hand.

02:59The true reasons for this entire stampede will be investigated by Goa administration at this point.

03:05They are putting all their focus on the hospitalization and the treatment of the people

03:10who are injured.

03:11There are about 80 people who are injured is what the information was given

03:14by the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane of Goa.

03:17And all the resources have been put in for the treatment of these injured bacteria.
