Adam O'Reilly relishing visit of Shelbourne

Derry City midfielder Adam O'Reilly is relishing the visit of champions Shelbourne to Brandywell.

00:07Oh good, look, we're into there now, putting a shift in and getting prepared for the game on Friday.

00:13I think everyone's kind of round to go after the result that we had against Waterford there on the weekend.

00:17That's disappointing, obviously you're not going to dwell too much on the Waterford game,

00:20but you're not going to need any extra motivation to get up for, first of all, a game at the Brandiwell,

00:25but against the Champions.

00:27Yeah, look, I think it's an absolutely massive game, to put a statement out there that we're not out of the run at all.

00:35Even though we are only three points off the top, I think people are saying that they're still gelling together

00:41and still learning about each other, but look, I think the league is that tight this year.

00:45I don't think it's anyone's league.

00:47And a second consecutive three-game week as well too, how's that taking its toll on the legs and stuff?

00:54Yeah, look, I think the squad depth is there.

00:58We've got quality players, different positions that can fill in anywhere really.

01:02So I think, look, it's good that we have that and the competition is there as well.

01:08It's like no one knows who's going to be playing and things like that.

01:11And I think that's what you need to push you shut around, which is good.

01:16Against Shelburne, that's going to be a key battle in the middle of the park.

01:18You're hoping that you reclaim that starting berth as well too, I'm sure, Adam.

01:24These are the kind of games that you really look forward to as a midfielder.

01:27Yeah, 100%.

01:28Look, obviously they've got a great side and a lot of top-quality players, but so do we.

01:33So I think, look, I'll be looking forward to that battle in the middle if I play.

01:41But look, I think that battle in the middle will be really good.

01:45And look, obviously, it's the engine room, people call it.

01:47So I think if you win the battle there, you win the game.

01:50So look, it'll be interesting.

01:53And I don't need to tell you, you're one of the players that were there the last game of

01:56last season when Shelburne lifted the title at the Brandywell.

01:59How did that feel?

02:00And then is it still a wee bit raw for players that experienced that?

02:06Look, obviously, I think because it was such a tight season last year, coming to the end

02:10of it and the way it kind of ended, there's that burning desire there to put things right

02:16at the Brandywell as well.

02:18So look, I think that'll be in the boys' heads that were there last year as well.

02:23So I think, look, that's what we need to do, put things right.
