00:00Amazon has launched its first batch of Internet broadcasting satellites,

00:05kicking off its long-delayed deployment of an Internet from Space network.

00:1027 satellites are now in orbit at an altitude of nearly 630 kilometers above the Earth's surface.

00:17Monday's launch from the Atlas V rocket, which took off from Florida,

00:21follows that of two experimental satellites launched two years ago as part of Project Kuiper,

00:27a $10 billion effort unveiled in 2019.

00:32Competing with rival Elon Musk's Starlink,

00:34Jeff Bezos' team claims that the satellites they're launching are now much more advanced than the first two.

00:41The company aims to put more than 3,200 of these satellites into orbit.

00:46Musk's SpaceX has already launched more than 8,000 Starlinks since 2019.

00:52Meanwhile, a growing number of astronomers are warning that the large number of satellites

00:57is hampering their work and could pose an accident risk.
