Youth Demand protest group disrupt London marathon

00:00Sunday was a huge day for London, with a number of high-profile people attending the 45th TCS Marathon.

00:09Just as the men's elite race passed across Tower Bridge on Sunday morning,

00:16protesters from the Youth Demand Group threw red powder paint over the runners

00:22with a recording showing how police made contact with the protesters less than 20 seconds.

00:30After the demonstration began.

00:33So what exactly is Youth Demand?

00:35Because if you have been following the news in London recently,

00:40you may have noticed they are becoming increasingly active in the capital.

00:46Well, they are a pro-Palestinian and environmental activist group,

00:52who, according to their website, are demanding that the government must stop all trade with Israel

00:59and, quote-unquote, make the rich pay by raising £1 trillion by 2030 from the super-rich

01:07and fossil fuel elite to pay damages to communities and countries harmed by fossil fuel burning.

01:14Youth Demand is actually an offshoot of Just Stop Oil's youth wing

01:20and have so far been seen to employ similar disruptive tactics to the environmental protest group.

01:29It is worth noting that Just Stop Oil's final disruptive protest took place on Saturday
