Billy Max (né Charles Van der Stichelen) was a bandleader of Belgian origin who mainly worked in France, and who recorded several dozens of sides. This excellent selection was recorded in 1924. Personnel comprised: Marius Brun (drums), Maurice Dubois (tuba), Francis Gaudet (trumpet), Fred Hidson aka Paul Delacour (piano, arranger), Hofman (tenor saxophone), Marcel Lafarge (trombone), Raoul Moretti (piano, composer), André Saury (clarinet, tenor saxophone), Charles Van der Stichelen aka Billy Max (baritone and C-melody saxophone, leader), Jack Van der Stichelen (violin), Jules Viard (alt and tenor saxophone).
