00:00India has just taken a massive step towards war with Pakistan after they suspended the Indus Water
00:04Treaty. The treaty is a water-sharing agreement signed back in 1960 between the two, which divides
00:09the Indus River system between them. And its suspension is a huge deal. Firstly, because it
00:14has never happened before. Despite the multiple wars and tensions between the two nuclear-armed
00:18neighbours in the past, the treaty has always been kept in place. And secondly, it's a big deal
00:23because it means that India could be planning to restrict or even totally stop the flow of water
00:27into Pakistan. And if this happens, it would be absolutely devastating for Pakistan because
00:31they depend on the water from the Indus for 80% of their agriculture. And Pakistan knows
00:36this because they just announced that any attempt by India to restrict the flow of water into
00:41Pakistan will be officially considered an act of war. So could this be the first time in
00:45modern history that we see two countries go to war over water?
