00:02NEM BLONG MI LUKAS
00:04NEM BLONG MI LUKAS
00:06This is Tok Pisin
00:07Welcome to another episode of Linguistics with Luka
00:11Today I'm in Papua New Guinea
00:13I'm currently in the capital city of Port Moresby
00:16Which is actually very dangerous at the moment
00:18Because there are a lot of violent riots going on at this time
00:22But Papua New Guinea is fascinating
00:24It is in fact the most linguistically diverse country on the planet
00:28They have over 850 languages spoken in the country
00:32So how do they all get along?
00:34Well they have a lingua franca called Tok Pisin
00:37Literally Tok Pisin
00:39Which is an English based Creole that almost everyone uses
00:43However me just speaking normal English
00:46I had some difficulty getting around
00:48And people don't always understand what you want
00:51And I don't understand Tok Pisin either
00:53But when you read it sometimes it makes a lot of sense
00:56You have a beautiful view here of Port Moresby
00:58And yeah that's linguistically very fascinating here
01:02Port Moresby
01:03Over 850 languages
01:05Can you imagine?
01:06Guys we're currently in the city of Razon in North Korea
01:09And behind me you can see the Golden Triangle Bank
01:12And I actually just went inside the bank account
01:14And opened a North Korean bank account
01:17And I got a bank card
01:18And we also changed some North Korean won
01:20Which looks really really cool
01:21This is the currency of North Korea
01:23It's the North Korean won
01:25And it has one of the craziest denominations
01:27That I've ever seen in my life
01:29You have here a 10 won note
01:31And there a 50,000 won note
01:34And we're currently in Razon
01:36This is the city of Razon in North Korea
01:38Greetings from country number 193
01:42I am now trying food from the Central African Republic
01:45This is Voodoo with Chiquin
01:48So this is basically feu de quelque chose
01:51With some fermented manioc I think
01:54Oh wow
01:59But it's so good
02:00I love it
02:02It's so good
02:03Guys I'm currently out and about exploring Tuba
02:06It's one of the toughest places to take videos in
02:09And it's a very very
02:10Yeah it feels very anarchical to be honest
02:12It doesn't feel like there's much of a law
02:14You can see the streets here of Chuba
02:16It's a tough place
02:17It's a tough place to film especially
02:19I shouldn't do that
02:20I shouldn't be filming here
02:21It's quite nerve-wracking to be honest
02:23But I'm here with my security guy
02:25So he's taking great care of me
02:27Which is amazing
02:28So greetings from Chuba
02:29I am trying to visit every single country on the planet
02:32And today I'm in Mali
02:33Behind me you can see the Tour d'Afrique
02:35The Africa Tower
02:36Which is one of the main monuments here of the city
02:39And there's a bunch of markets as well here
02:41Around the capital city in Bamako
02:44It's very very bustling
02:45It's very overwhelming
02:46One of those cities where everything is loud
02:48Everything is noisy
02:49Everything is bustling
02:50And this is the Tour d'Afrique
02:53Coming to Mali
02:54Yeah Mali
02:55Mali
02:56Yeah guys this is amazing
02:59I am now trying more East African food here in Rwanda
03:02This is Sukumawiki and Ugali
03:05I know Ugali because I tried it in Bangui
03:07In the Central African Republic
03:09I didn't have it with the sauce though
03:12I only had the greens
03:14Which I love
03:15Basically further kelkishos
03:16It's amazing
03:18And this one here is cassava based
03:21So you can choose between maize and cassava
03:25I prefer the cassava
03:26So nice
03:30If you are in Rwanda
03:31You should definitely come to this restaurant here
03:33It's called the Pan-African restaurant
03:35And they have a lot of vegan options
03:36Which is really nice
03:37They clearly label the vegan options on the menu
03:40Which is so nice
03:41And it's delicious as well
03:44Greetings from Kigali
