Watch me drive the fully-loaded, drive-by-wire Geely Farizon SuperVan, the final of 15 test drives for me at the 2025 Everything Electric show in Sydney.
Up front, the cab is more like a passenger vehicle, with very nice materials, all the safety features, 360 camera. It would be perfect to turn into a camper.
This van comes with a 83 kWh battery pack and a 160 kW motor, offering a WLTP range of 375 km and a fast-charging capability of 140 kW.
Other Features:
Built on a dedicated modular EV platform
First-in-segment drive-by-wire architecture
Sliding side-door with hidden B-pillar
Weight monitoring system
Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality with three powerpoints in the cargo space
270-degree-opening rear barn doors
Towing capacity of up to two tons

00:00OK, so welcome to the first stop on the Preston.
00:04Just over there to my right we have the Energy Advice Zone, kindly sponsored by Ausgrid.
00:11Actually, it's really easy to switch from a combustion car to an electric car.
00:16Honestly, take my word for it, you could do it here at the show if you haven't already done so.
00:20The home situation is a little bit more complicated because your homes are all so very different.
00:24Whether it's how they're insulated, where they're located, what's side, etc.
00:28So actually here the Energy Advice Zone is a really fantastic area where you can get bespoke individual advice about your property.
00:35The first stop real on the tour though is Verizon.
00:38I'm going to introduce Charles Lind from Verizon and he's going to tell us a little bit about what they are showing here today.
00:45Passenger cars is quite a big theme of this show but as you can see we now have commercial vehicles aplenty too.
00:50Good morning Charles.
00:52Good morning, thank you very much for everyone for being here today.
00:57being the first stop on the tour.
00:59There's a bit of pressure on us to try and impress.
01:01We have our vehicles here on display for the first time, public display in Australia.
01:05We have the H90 EV truck, 100% electric.
01:09This one here is an 8 ton version, short wheelbase giving you a 162kph LFP C80 electric cargo van.
01:18Again, it's a very modern looking vehicle and it does also set benchmarks within the commercial van industry or the commercial van segment.
01:26We have features like seat heating and ventilation, heated steering wheel, 30 different active safety features.
01:34In fact it won a Euro and Platinum award for it.
01:38It drives like an SUV.
01:40That's the feedback that we've been getting.
01:42There's nothing quite large on the market.
01:44Please have a look at the vehicle.
01:46We're here with test drive number 15, lucky last.
01:49Saved the best for last.
01:50Isn't that right Adam?
01:51That is right.
01:52So this is a Forizon.
01:54Forizon.
01:55Forizon.
01:56Forizon.
01:57Forizon.
01:58And it's made by Geely.
01:59So it's really Geely's commercial arm.
02:02And so this is a fully battery electric van.
02:06It can be converted to a camper van.
02:09It can be.
02:10It can be.
02:11Things are possible.
02:12Local support, we can do that.
02:13Right.
02:14And what sets this one aside from other commercial vans is quite nice inside, which we'll see in a minute there.
02:20And do you know the basic stats in terms of the kilowatt hour battery range and the power?
02:26Yeah.
02:27You're looking at 83 kilowatt battery in there.
02:29Yeah.
02:30376 kilometers range.
02:32WLTP.
02:33Right.
02:34So 376 WLTP.
02:37And sorry, again.
02:38And 83 kilowatt battery.
02:4083 kilowatt.
02:41And what about the power?
02:42So you're looking at 140 kilowatts on the DC and 11 on the AC.
02:47All right.
02:48So that's the charging.
02:49140 kilowatts will give you 30 to 90% in about 25 minutes.
02:53Right.
02:54And then you're looking at 89 hours on the AC charge you open.
02:57Okay.
02:58Very good.
02:59Well, let's go inside and have a look at it.
03:02So it's basically a van that's like a car.
03:11So what are the selling points for Adam?
03:13So key, I said from a straight into Apple CarPlay.
03:14Yeah.
03:15Like you say, driving experience is, it's like a, it's like a car driving experience in there.
03:23Set up really comfortably.
03:24Plenty of, plenty of roof height there.
03:26Nice armrest in there.
03:27Regenerative braking.
03:29You've got modes for that too.
03:31Yep.
03:32You've got eco mode, sports mode, and you can go through three different regions.
03:35So a little bit harder on, on your, on number three, but when you go back to number one,
03:40very nice and soft.
03:41So kind of more like what people are experiencing if they haven't, if they haven't had an EV before.
03:46Yep.
03:47All your adaptive and active safety features are included.
03:51So we can try it out.
03:53So it's very car-like.
03:54Very car-like experience.
03:56All right.
03:57Let's go.
03:58All right.
03:59So this is quite a widespread brand in China.
04:04Mm-hmm.
04:05Yep.
04:06Yep.
04:07I'd say the biggest commercial brand under the Geely banner.
04:10Right.
04:11And has been around for quite some time and, you know, quality build.
04:16Do they make vans, just vans, or they have like buses and other things like that?
04:20Yeah.
04:21So they've got a complete range all the way from a mid-size van, right up to line haul truck
04:26and bus in Australia.
04:28So you've got, if you have this one that you're in now, the, the, the super van.
04:33Yep.
04:34And that one has the high roof and the standard roof.
04:36Right.
04:37And then you go into the cab chassis, which is also on the stand as well.
04:39Okay.
04:40So you've got the, the four and a half ton and the eight ton cab chassis.
04:43Right.
04:44And then you move into buses and line haul.
04:45So in Australia, we're just looking at the, the van product and the cab chassis product.
04:49Okay.
04:50And the cab chassis, you could put like a box, like a box truck.
04:53Correct.
04:54Yeah.
04:55Yeah.
04:56All right.
04:57Well, let's get this going.
04:58Start up.
04:59Put your foot on the brake first.
05:00Yep.
05:01You're good to go.
05:02Start up on the air.
05:03And then we'll be, we'll get some cool airing.
05:07Yeah.
05:08Yeah.
05:09I was going to say if you can pull it down there, the drive columns on your right hand side
05:17there.
05:18Yep.
05:19And then we're going to just go around.
05:23Yeah.
05:24So head over to straight ahead and then, um, off to the left.
05:28Yeah.
05:29No, no, straight over here.
05:30And over to the left and we can exit out there.
05:32Yeah.
05:33Oh wow.
05:34It's got, so I was asking before about the kilowatts in terms of the power of the vehicle.
05:37Oh, in terms of, um, like what's the power?
05:40Whoa.
05:41Power port.
05:42Cause it feels quite zippy.
05:44It is, but I don't, I would have to look that up for you.
05:47Can I look that up for you?
05:48Yeah.
05:49Yeah.
05:50Yeah.
05:51I'm going to activate the gate.
05:52Now go a little bit closer.
05:53And it's got Apple CarPlay.
06:03Apple CarPlay.
06:04And then it's got Carbit Link as well.
06:06So Android and Apple, whichever one you go.
06:08And that's how, if you want to log into them, that's how you get your, um, maps and everything.
06:13Yeah.
06:14Yeah.
06:15I've not actually heard of Carbit Link before.
06:17So that's actually, uh, an Android based way to link the phone, you know, to the, um,
06:22entertainment.
06:23Mm-hmm.
06:24Uh, hit left.
06:30I've driven so many cars, I'm trying to remember which one.
06:33Yeah, I just did the, um.
06:34No, you're right.
06:35Yeah.
06:36So you're in drive already.
06:37And you've got the left one.
06:38Beautiful.
06:39I hit the wrong one.
06:40And you'll see on the screen in front of you too while we're waiting.
06:43Yeah.
06:44There's a one there.
06:45You're on the regenerative one.
06:46Okay.
06:47And how do you do that?
06:48On the right hand side, down there next to the gear shift.
06:52Yep.
06:53You'll have, you'll have the one that looks like a round symbol.
06:56Yes.
06:57Yep.
06:58That one there.
06:59That one, we can change that to a two and a three.
07:00So you just press it.
07:01So one to the right of that.
07:02Oh yes.
07:03Power region.
07:04There you go.
07:05Yeah.
07:06There you go.
07:07And you can change your mode to eco and sport.
07:08So you're in sport at the moment, which I love.
07:09Yeah.
07:10Automatically going.
07:11Okay.
07:12That's right.
07:13Off you go.
07:14All right.
07:15There you go.
07:24So this would be ideal for like trades people, wouldn't it?
07:26Oh, amazing.
07:27Yeah.
07:28So in terms of the setup in the back, you're looking at, this is a short wheelbase we're
07:33driving.
07:34Sub, um, seven cubic meters capacity in the back.
07:37Right.
07:38And then, um, you've got a long, long wheelbase version of well, which gives you about seven
07:42cubic meters.
07:43Right.
07:44And then the one with the high roof, you would have seen on stand, um, you're, you're
07:47over 11 cubic meters on that.
07:49All right.
07:50Okay.
07:51Um.
07:52And the B pillar?
07:53Yeah.
07:54And the B pillar when we enter the side here.
07:56So there's, it's noticeably not on the side, but it is built in to the door.
08:02Right.
08:03Which really just, I mean, it's very clever.
08:05Yeah.
08:06It gives you, allows for a bigger aperture on the side and easier access.
08:09Yeah.
08:10Um, at the moment we've got a, um, feel a little bit there.
08:14We've, we've set up with a cargo barrier and important with the cargo barrier is that
08:18we've got, um, it helps with the air conditioning and things like that when you've got the back
08:22space as well.
08:23Yeah.
08:24So it's sealed.
08:25Head left.
08:26Head left.
08:27Sorry.
08:28Yeah.
08:29And for safety, obviously, if you, if you're a tradesman and you're hauling stuff around,
08:32you don't want to come flying to the front.
08:34Oh.
08:35Yep.
08:36100%.
08:37But it could be taken out for a, if you wanted to convert it into a camper.
08:40Uh.
08:41Yep.
08:42Um.
08:43It's interesting because then it doesn't seem to be, it would just be one hollow long
08:47thing, but this doesn't add any structural.
08:49Correct.
08:50No.
08:51To the roof, does it?
08:52No, you don't.
08:53Like it's, and it's, it's purely there, like you said, from a safety point of view and also
08:57to kind of give you more comfort from a air conditioning and heating point of view as
09:01well.
09:02Um, you'll probably find when people do the camper vans, they build something there.
09:05Yeah.
09:06Um, but often they leave it open.
09:08Um, they can do that, but it just, um, puts a bit more pressure on the air conditioning and
09:11things like that.
09:12Yeah.
09:13We'll head to the right over there at the end.
09:15Um, what about like how, um, the servicing and, and how, how aftermarket, where does that
09:23go through?
09:24Uh, how would that work?
09:26Yeah.
09:27So at the moment, Jameel Motors, um, who's the importer, um, are looking to, um, sign with
09:33some dealers, um, in each of the East Coast regions.
09:37So you're looking at someone in Victoria, Sydney, and Queensland at the moment.
09:40Yep.
09:41And we'll partner up with, um, some dealers with some experience in commercial assets
09:46and electrification and, um, and they'll be supporting the, the servicing side of that
09:51business.
09:52Yeah.
09:53I mean, there are people like my car and stuff like that around.
09:55Of course.
09:56You know, such, you know, that can be over.
09:58Looking at all options and, um, yeah, just want to make sure we've got the support because
10:03obviously from a commercial point of view, having the right support in the background, really
10:07important, keeping people over, minimizing downtime.
10:10Yep.
10:11And keeping people on the road and make sure they feel comfortable there.
10:13Yep.
10:14So you can see here we're an 80% battery and it's saying 324 kilometres range.
10:19Yep.
10:20And that would have been based, I'm assuming, on the past driving, probably not on the freeway
10:25so much.
10:26But, um, so yeah, I think for, basically for tradies working around town, it'd be unlikely
10:31to go more than 400 kilometres in a day driving around the city.
10:35So more than enough range.
10:37Um, and then if you were to use it as a road-tripping vehicle, if you were converted into a campervan,
10:43um, yeah, well, if you're going to do that, you're not really in a rush, are you?
10:47And there is plenty of charging.
10:48So as long as you can get from one charger to another, you should be right, really.
10:51Yeah.
10:52And just be conscious too with the, with driving habits.
10:55If you are doing a lot of, um, distance on highways, um, don't expect to get as much
11:00regenerative and, and you're probably on the, on the lower end of what to expect.
11:04And then if you are, like you said, around the city and you're up and down on the region,
11:09then generally speaking, you're going to get, you're going to maximize the range.
11:12I mean, we've had this out all day running this loop and we've still got 330 kilometres
11:17in there because it's a stop start and we're, you know, and we're.
11:21And you're doing the regenerative.
11:22Yeah, regenerative.
11:23And actually it is quite zippy, so, um, we've got it in sport mode.
11:28Um, so there we've changed it to eco.
11:32And, um, yeah, just there affects the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal with it.
11:39It's in sport mode.
11:40You push it down and it hits off quite a bit faster.
11:43So, it's by no means a sluggish van.
11:46I think it would go quite nicely around.
11:48Um, and it's got some physical buttons, which is nice.
11:53It's not all, all on the screen.
11:56Yeah, quite like that too.
11:57Just from a heating and call, oh, hitting right over here too, sorry.
12:00Um, heating and calling point of view, air con, easy access, nice.
12:04You know, touch button.
12:05You don't have to dive into the screen for that as well.
12:07It's nice to have it separate.
12:08I agree.
12:09And, and you can have a look at the, um, that just like, it is very car-like inside.
12:13It has the nice, you know, plush touches.
12:15It's not just all, uh, austere.
12:17It, it, it, and you know, there's nice, the copper accents and things like that.
12:21Does it come in different colours and you can, you can...
12:24Yeah, um, we've got...
12:25Because there's a blue one.
12:26There is a blue one.
12:27Um, there is a green one, which we had on Sandin, I believe.
12:30There's a silver one as well.
12:31Right.
12:32Um, yeah, so quite nice.
12:34So, are these available for, um, delivery?
12:37Have you got a date for when you want to start bringing them in?
12:40Not yet.
12:41We're, um, officially launching, um, in, at the Melbourne Motor Show in about a month later.
12:46Yeah.
12:47Um, and then post that, um, when dealers are engaged and set up, um, that's when we'll go
12:53to market.
12:54All right.
12:55So it won't be too far.
12:56And I'd expect that we're, um, you know, the April, May period is when we're aiming
13:01to, to make sure we've got some sales going.
13:03All right.
13:04So quite soon.
13:05And, um, so Jamil, uh, is the importer.
13:09Yep.
13:10And they were, at the launch, um, yesterday, they were talking about how they have, have
13:15other right-hand markets, um, I think South Africa and somewhere else that it's going
13:20to go to.
13:21So it's kind of like a global.
13:22In the UK.
13:23In the UK.
13:24Like I said, it is a global vehicle.
13:25It is.
13:26Um, we're looking to launch in, I think simultaneously at the moment, we're, we're in about 11 different
13:30markets, um, slightly like most the same product.
13:34Um, some, some take the catch chassis, some not.
13:37Um, and, but, um, yeah, at the moment, um, Jamil's working quite hard in the background
13:43to, to launch it as a, on a global platform.
13:46Have you had much interest at the show in terms of people asking about it?
13:50And, um, what, I mean, what, what is it really aimed?
13:53Is it aimed at trades people?
13:54Would be like pilots and things like that?
13:56Yeah, I think.
13:57Oh, 100%.
13:58Um, the trade market is a big market for us.
14:01So the trade is in terms of the configuration's perfect.
14:04We've got that, um, vehicle to load, um, capabilities.
14:07So.
14:08It does have vehicle to load.
14:09So you can, you can run your, um, your drills and tools and things off it.
14:12Yep.
14:13Yeah.
14:14Um, which is one of the first in market to be able to do that, um, from the factory.
14:17So it's a really important, um, selling point.
14:19That'd be great for camping too because you could plug in everything.
14:22Very much.
14:23So it's, it's got all the ADAS and the sensitivity.
14:25So the alarm's going off because we kind of, um, we're in a narrow stretcher as the cars
14:30are squeezing past.
14:31It's letting us know that the, the cars are coming close.
14:34So it has all the ADAS and everything like that, right?
14:36Correct.
14:37Yeah.
14:38Does it have, um, adaptive cruise?
14:39It does.
14:40And under your left hand there, under this one here, there's your adaptive cruise
14:44and you can set that as you go.
14:46Very nice.
14:47Um, um, so when you spoke about markets before, um, obviously really varied in terms of that.
14:53You spoke about, you know, we look at, you know, motor homes being one, um, as big, as
14:58a big player for us.
14:59Um, I think from a, um, last mile delivery point of view is another one.
15:04So that logistics space, um, refrigerated and dry freight, um, we'll look at everything
15:10even, um, you know, you can, that's even with the cab chassis as well as the van.
15:15Um, and then you look at maybe those service engineers.
15:18So very much, um, like you said before, with the vehicle to load, um, service engineers
15:24where I like to keep things charged, work off their laptops, do things like that in the
15:28back as well.
15:29So there is a, a broad spectrum of how we can do that and how we can look after them.
15:34Um, so yeah, like in America, they've got new different like bright drop vans and Rivian
15:39vans.
15:40We don't really have electric vans too much in Australia.
15:44We'll go right up there.
15:45We've got the Peugeot e-partner.
15:46Mm-hmm.
15:47And, uh, I don't even know if the Ford, um, what's the Ford van?
15:52It's a very common van.
15:54Uh.
15:55Transit.
15:56Transit van.
15:57Do we get the Ford Transit electric in Australia?
15:59I'm not sure if we do.
16:00I think it's coming very soon.
16:02It's coming.
16:03I mean, as, as important as it is for, uh, normal drivers, just, you know, just drivers,
16:11it's also important for commercial people to go electric too, right?
16:14So, and for them to have options to, to choose from.
16:18I think so too.
16:19Yeah.
16:20And I think, um, I think it's, it's going to be a big benefit, you know, carbon
16:25utility, um, whether or not you're in a, in a small to medium enterprise or you're
16:30looking at, um, you know, some of the bigger fleets in market.
16:33Um, I think everyone's looking at it now in terms of how we can support the environment
16:38and, um, uh, and, you know, electric vehicles is, is it can play a big part of that.
16:45And also it makes economic sense, doesn't it?
16:47Because you're not buying petrol.
16:48And so, uh, you, you, you drive it, do your work during the day, plug it in at the
16:53workshop and you're ready to go in the morning and it doesn't cost you anything.
16:56Um, so the, the, um, electric vehicles are actually cheaper than petrol cars in the long
17:02run, which people don't often realise.
17:04You pay a bit more upfront, but you recoup that cost in the end.
17:07Have we, have you set the pricing for it yet?
17:10Um, pricing will be, um, set and, um, released at the Melbourne Motor Show.
17:17Okay.
17:18But we are looking to be very competitive.
17:21Um, I mean, it's got quite a big battery in it.
17:24And, uh, so yeah, it's, um, you get, you get what you pay for really, isn't it?
17:29So it's not, um, uh, your average trader would be quite comfortable in this.
17:33And I think you get more than what you pay for here, don't you?
17:36There you go.
17:37Yeah.
17:38It has, um, are we going straight?
17:40Uh, hips to the right.
17:41Good.
17:42Yeah.
17:43Right.
17:44Right around here.
17:45Yeah.
17:46So the yellow light there was plenty of power, even though we're on eco mode.
17:49Sorry.
17:50I interrupted.
17:51Yeah.
17:52So it's got, um, a lot of the, um, active, um, safety features as well as some passive
17:56ones as well.
17:57But most of those ones, like you spoke about before in terms of, um, active cruise control
18:02and things like that.
18:03Um, really important that we have that now.
18:05I think it's a really important safety feature that is standard across the board.
18:09Um, it has a 360 camera and I think you said with the, um, the cab chassis truck, that's
18:16one of the first to actually have a 360 camera.
18:19Yeah.
18:20From that point of view, it's amazing, isn't it?
18:21So to have that, and this in the van, I think is now, we're going to go into the left
18:26hand lane and do a left hand turn in a second.
18:29Push it behind.
18:31Just in front of where, no, no, no, up here a bit further.
18:34Um, where that guy's turning in.
18:37Beautiful.
18:38Are we going to cut in?
18:39Yeah.
18:40Yeah.
18:41We'll go in the back.
18:42Perfect.
18:43No, no, no.
18:44In there.
18:45Probably in.
18:46Yeah.
18:47Um, so the, the bird's eye view of the van, especially when you're in a large vehicle,
18:53you know, is even more important.
18:55Um, and that's the, um, uh, just the speedo because I think we're down to 10 kilometres.
19:01It's only 10 kilometres an hour, so I was doing 16.
19:04So yeah, it lets you know when you're going over.
19:07But yeah, so the three, I'm surprised that you don't get 360 camera cameras on trucks
19:11because they're such hard things to back up.
19:13Yeah.
19:14And I think it's been a lot of it because you have a, um, that's okay.
19:18Um, it's because, you know, you tend on a truck, you put a box on the back, right?
19:22Um, but now the cameras are good enough to be able to kind of have those wide angle views,
19:27to be able to look right down the side and still give you that, um, that 360 positioning.
19:32Yeah.
19:33Um, and same with these.
19:34Like now it's just such an important thing.
19:37Um, and just from a safety point of view in terms of pedestrians, as well as, and just
19:43behind this skull one here.
19:46Um, and maybe when we pull up, we'll just pop it into reverse to have a look at that,
19:50that, um, reverse camera.
19:52Yeah.
19:53I still wanted to get a picture of me with it.
19:55So I won't go right up to that.
19:56So, so put it in, pop it into reverse and you'll be able to have a look here.
19:59Oh yeah, there you go.
20:00Like the clarity is really good.
20:01Yeah.
20:02And, um, if you flick through the side here, we can click that and you get the side view
20:07to see how low you are.
20:08Yeah.
20:09And you can, you can adjust it as you go and you've got front and back.
20:12It's really, really, really, yeah, really nice from, you know, and clarity is important.
20:18And I think it gives you that beautiful bird's eye view.
20:21Magnificent.
20:22I'm going to stop.
20:23Well, thanks for taking me on the drive, Adam.
20:25I really appreciate it.
20:26I hope you enjoyed it.
20:27It was a good one to finish on because, you know, obviously cars are cars, but to actually drive
20:31something a bit different.
20:32That's a van.
20:33It's definitely nice to do.
20:34So, and, um, yeah, I have a part of me dreams of getting a camper van and, and just driving
20:42off and moving in there.
20:43You know, watch this space and, um, I'll make sure I'll let you know when I'm, when I'm
20:47set up.
20:48All right.
20:49There's lots ahead on the horizon, as they say.
20:51Yeah.
20:52I love it.
20:53Well done.
20:54All right.
20:57All right.
20:58So we're having a look at the back and look at that amount of space.
21:00Huge amount of space.
21:01There we go.
21:05So that's what do you, that's the divider.
21:08And it does have a bit of a cam, um, like camera, um, a window in there.
21:12So you can see through the back.
21:15It tie downs.
21:17Yeah.
21:18And the, um, the 270 degrees floors.
21:22Oh, yeah.
21:23So they open right up.
21:25Yeah.
21:26Very cool.
21:27And then the sliding door on that side there.
21:30Yep.
21:31Yeah.
21:32The other side.
21:33There we go.
21:36And, um, what I mentioned to you about, um, just on the, okay.
21:37About the, the B pillar.
21:38There is no B pillar here.
21:39Right.
21:40It sits in the door.
21:41Yeah.
21:42So that's, I mean, cause this is not structural at all.
21:43Correct.
21:44It's just there for the safety, like the safety to stop flying stuff through and also to contain
21:57the cabin, which will help to, um, decline it and that you're not trying to heat and fool
22:02the whole box.
22:03And a large aperture between here and here, comfortable in exiting and out on either the
22:08rear or the side.
22:09Right.
22:10And it's got a quite, quite nice looking design up the front.
22:14And the, uh, the front logo lights up.
22:28We're saying it's pretty cool that having the logo lit up like that.
22:35Is it likely to lit up now?
22:36Yeah.
22:37Yeah.
22:38Must have left the lights on maybe.
22:39No, I haven't locked it off yet.
22:40So.
22:41Yeah.
22:42Just the design of it looks, um, very modern, very nice.
22:47Oh, well, thanks, Adam.
22:49Good luck.
22:50I hope you, I hope you sell a ton.
22:51Ah, we will.
22:52All right.
