00:00Meet the guides of Techworld.
00:03They're ready to take visitors on a journey through Taiwan's pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka,
00:09promising an experience of Taiwan's beauty and digital power.
00:13And if you look closely, even their uniforms can transport visitors to the heart of the island nation.
00:20The outfits, designed by Liao Jialing, known as the Queen of Uniforms in Taiwan,
00:26are the result of months of planning.
00:28The design is inspired by a unique Taiwanese tree, the Taiwania Feu,
00:34the only tree in the world that includes Taiwan in its botanical name.
00:39It's hard for Taiwan to present itself on the world stage here at Expo 2025,
00:44like at many other international events.
00:46It doesn't have an official pavilion.
00:49Liao says she used the Feu, which the country's indigenous Lukai people call
00:53the tree that touches the moon as a symbol of Taiwan's cultural roots.
00:57The uniforms are made of earth-toned, eco-friendly fabrics,
01:16featuring digitally printed, sketch-style illustrations.
01:20We've also used a lot ofį’°äŋįš„布料.
01:23Like there's the most basic material material.
01:26There's a muleæŽŧ.
01:28So these are all of Taiwan's special materials.
01:32From research and design to fabric selection and production,
01:37Liao says these uniforms are the most challenging pieces she's crafted in her 35-year career.
01:42Many of the details are made by hand.
01:45And she says the fabrics made it difficult to embroider.
01:57Liao also took practicality into account,
02:00knowing the guides will have to wear the uniforms through different seasons and temperatures.
02:04The jacket has 50 hidden buttons,
02:07allowing guides to easily remove the sleeves if needed.
02:11Their uniforms are inspired by the look of an explorer ready to embark on a journey.
02:15It's meant to show towns resilience and pride,
02:17standing strong on the global stage despite all the challenges ahead.
