00:00I've been doing this for 24 years as of this month, as of the 17th. I've done a full 24 years. I'm on my 25th year.
00:27Yeah, 25 years has gone by. I've been tattooing longer than you've been alive. That makes me insane. I'm like, oh my god, I'm tattooing people's kids now.
00:57I got a tattoo when I turned 20, my first one, and I just fell in love with it right away. I was like, wait a minute, these guys get to draw every day. This is the best thing ever.
01:07I have a few that I wouldn't have done, but I have no reason to get rid of them. They're milestones, and it doesn't change how I felt when I got the tattoo, so I saw no need to cover it up.
01:17I like to do everything in person. I like to see people. Like, just the cock of an eyebrow or the tip of a head, you can see if you've hit on something that you either like or don't like.
01:39And without that person-to-person contact that people don't really value in most businesses, I don't get to do my job as well.
01:47Plenty of people just want to walk in and get something. But I don't get the satisfaction I wanted of that.
01:53I wanted to do it the way I knew I wanted to do it. I didn't want to be in a strip mall. I didn't want to have some place that people just wandered in.
02:01I wanted some place that was more curated, and people came here because this is where they wanted to be.
02:06They're not going to choose to get tattooed by someone that treats them poorly, or doesn't know how to express their idea, or doesn't care to take the time.
02:15When you're done with the line work and the black work, you should be able to let that walk away.
02:19Whether they want color or not, that should be a finished tattoo.
02:31To be continued...
