Interview with Director Wes Ball of Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes.
Transcript
00:00As far as the continuity goes, I mean, another thing that I love kind of the looping nature of the Apes franchise is obviously Escape kind of took everything back.
00:08In your mind, is every single movie canon or?
00:12Yeah, look, truthfully for me, what was in my, it was on my plate when we were thinking about this thing was the previous three movies, the trilogy of the Caesar trilogy and the 68 original.
00:22Sure.
00:22Those were in my sights, really. Everything else is, which I think is what's interesting about this franchise, it's always been kind of loosely connected.
00:32It's never been so rigid that, you know, unlike other franchises that if you change one of the things, what? You know, like you could kind of reinvent, you could kind of have some freedom to play a little bit.
00:41It's loose. So as long as I feel like we stuck to those pillars, I feel like we were in good shape.
00:50You know, we could, we belong to the franchise in a way. And you see lots of echoes throughout the movie. You kind of see some beneath in there.
00:55You kind of see some, you know, conquest in there. But yeah, you know, that's, that's how it goes.
01:00But also it depends on how you think about time travel movies anyway.
01:02Yeah.
01:03Because the fact they went back and maybe we haven't gotten to that point yet.
01:05I was literally going to say, maybe all these are the prequels to the original.
01:08That's something for other people to go and debate on, which is great. They can go out in the parking lot and debate all this stuff.
01:12Love it.
