Malaysia has dispatched a 69-member medical team from the Armed Forces (ATM) to Myanmar as part of a humanitarian mission under Operation Starlight III.

The deployment follows the devastating earthquake that struck the country on March 28.

00:16ATM Health Services Director, General Lt. Gen. Datuk Dr. Zulkifeli Matjuso, said the team
00:22comprised 16 officers and 53 members, including the Forward Anesthesia and Surgical Team from
00:29the Malaysian Field Hospital, an element from the Royal Engineers Regiment.
00:34The team, led by Colonel Dr. Ahmad Farhan Ahmad Fuad, also brought essential equipment, including
00:40a Level 2 field hospital, medical and communication kits, technical equipment, a four-wheel drive
00:47vehicle and two 18-ton capacity trucks.
00:50Their mission is to operate the field hospital in the Sagaing area, though the location may
00:55change based on situation.
00:57Two RMAF aircraft carrying the team are expected to land at Mandalay International Airport
01:04Friday morning.
01:05The 7.7 magnitude earthquake claimed over 3,500 lives, injured nearly 5,000 and affected 9 million
