00:00All right, what about a smart diaper?
00:02A smart diaper.
00:0399.5 QIK, it's Mark and Melanie,
00:05Tampa Bay's Morning Crew.
00:06Pampers is unveiling this new technology
00:09that parents would have an app
00:11and you get a notification
00:12when your child goes number one in the diaper.
00:17Okay.
00:18That's Kevin laughing already off the bat.
00:20I just love that there's an app for that.
00:22There's an app for everything.
00:23There is.
00:23There's this.
00:24All right, well, I see we got three parents in the room.
00:27Okay, Melanie is about to get married,
00:29so you'll be facing this sooner or later.
00:32Facing it.
00:33It's true.
00:34Well, yeah.
00:34I'm looking forward to it at some point, yeah.
00:37Buck, you have a little boy.
00:38Yeah.
00:38So we're setting up here.
00:39You got all the video cameras and everything,
00:41so this will be on tape forever.
00:42Would you be in on a smart diaper?
00:43No.
00:44Why?
00:44No, it's not going to work.
00:45Why?
00:46I don't have time for this.
00:48Like, I just assume the diaper is full of pee
00:51at any given moment.
00:52That's true.
00:53All right, Kevin, would you use it?
00:55Probably, yeah.
00:56Yeah.
00:56I mean, I would.
00:57But don't you know when your kid usually peed in the diaper
01:01because you can feel it, the diapers.
01:02I mean, I nannied for so many years
01:04that the diaper's either full, it gets heavy.
01:07Oh, man, you get a trained eye.
01:08The kid's crying.
01:09I don't want to brag.
01:10I got a trained diaper eye.
01:13A little hot guy over there.
01:15Oh, yeah, dude.
01:15I can spot a diaper from about 20 yards away
01:18that needs to be changed.
01:19You should add that on your resume.
01:21And I can tell you why it needs to be changed, too.
01:23Trained diaper eye.
01:24One of my many.
01:25Put it on my resume?
01:26Yeah, there you go.
01:27I'm going to update my LinkedIn account
01:29with trained diaper eye.
01:31See if I can get anybody to endorse me for this.
01:33Not everyone has that skill, apparently,
01:35which is why they're making this app.
01:38We did post this on our...
01:40My God.
01:41Jeez Louise, smart diapers.
01:43We did post this on our Facebook page.
01:44We're getting a lot of comments.
01:46Most of them look, like, negative.
01:48But let me tell you the one positive thing here.
01:50And I know new things come out and people,
01:54and predominantly older people tend to hate on new technology.
01:59Yes.
01:59Because they say, oh, you're lazy, you're lazy.
02:01But I will say, first-time parents,
02:03you are worried about hydration in your baby.
02:07So this, the app will also keep track of, you know,
02:10how often your baby's going to the bathroom.
02:11You may need to adjust fluids and stuff like that,
02:13especially for a new baby.
02:15Oh, that makes sense.
02:15Yeah, so, I mean, there's some real positives to this.
02:17You just can't hate on things because they're new.
02:19Like, that doesn't make any sense, right?
02:21I guess we should tell our Facebook followers that
02:23because everybody is hating on it.
02:26Cynthia said, if you need a text to tell your child has pooped,
02:29your sense of smell is terrible.
02:30This only tracks number one, by the way.
02:33Ashley says, I mean, it's pretty easy now,
02:36or I must just have what they call a smart baby.
02:39He cries when he needs to be changed, so I change him.
02:42That's great, though.
02:42That is great.
02:43Well, so, yeah, here's the thing.
02:44If you're depending on this app to figure out
02:47when to change your baby's diaper, well, that's moronic.
02:50Like, that's insanity, right?
02:52Yes.
02:53But I'm just saying, if you're trying to keep track
02:54of how often he or she's going to the bathroom
02:57because, you know, you're adjusting hydration,
03:00then that's good.
03:01Yeah.
03:01Jennifer Stewart, she said,
03:03how about we just have a company called Smart Parents?
03:08Good luck.
03:09They're going in on this smart diaper.
03:12All right, so nobody likes it on our Facebook page.
03:14I hear what you're saying, but nobody likes it.
03:16Okay.
03:16Does it track properly if you put the diaper on backwards?
03:20Because I have that problem.
03:21Well, here's the thing about that, right?
03:23That's what your wife's for, to yell at you and call you dumb.
03:27Like, or just go, what are you doing?
03:30And why did you do that?
03:31I've done that a bunch of times, too.
03:32It's frustrating.
03:33It gets frustrating sometimes with the diaper changing.
03:36Oh, I can only imagine.
03:37You're going to find out soon.
03:38Oh.
03:39Real soon.
03:40Thomas Rhett?
03:40No, not real soon.
03:41Whoa, whoa, whoa.
03:42Pump the brakes here.
03:42Think about Thomas Rhett.
03:43They keep pumping them out.
03:44He's about to have another one.
03:45He could use this app.
03:47They have a lot of help, though, too.
03:49Smart nannies?
03:50Yeah, smart nannies.
03:52Smart parents with smart nannies.
03:53Text us, what do you think about the smart diaper?
03:55800-992-1099.
03:58What are your thoughts?
04:00Would you use it?
04:01Do you think it's dumb?
04:03But there's probably some good things to this.
04:05Like I said.
04:06Yeah, the hydration thing's a good point.
04:07I think it's a good point, right?
04:09Or do you have a trained diaper eye like I do?
04:11We all got talents.
04:13Text us now.
04:13It's QYQ.
