Virgil van Dijk's Liverpool legacy continues

00:00I'm very happy with Virgil this season, he's been incredible for us, he's such an important player for us.

00:11He's been, I think, a tremendous player, such a great player for Liverpool for so many years.

00:16Unfortunately for him, he was out with an injury for almost the whole of the season.

00:20That didn't help this football club at all, so that probably tells you how big of an impact he has had here at this club.

00:30You see him during the game, and he's outstanding during the game, but he has such a big impact.

00:43In training sessions as well, he's the focal leader of this team.

00:47Every time we start an exercise, he's on top of his teammates and he leads by example.

01:01You don't find defenders like him that often.

01:06The elegance he plays with, you never really, you very rarely see him sprinting.

01:12He seems to be back to his best.

01:14He's a leader, he's a big presence, he's one of the best centre-backs in European football.

01:30So he's had a hell of a career and he doesn't look like he's slowing down even at the age he's at now.

01:35So I'm a big admirer of him.

01:37He's been with the lows, he's been with the highs, he's gone neck to neck with City for two or three years.

01:54Then they had a dip, then he's come back, then it's a free title race.

01:58He's done it all.

01:59And I think those plays you need to keep because the experience, the knowledge they can pass on to others is incredible.
