00:00I do not accept the findings of the report whatsoever. Not just two-tier policing but
00:05two-tier justice as well. You know, people who said very unpleasant things in the heat
00:09of the moment on Facebook, going to prison very, very quickly. Others on the other side
00:15of the argument, shall we say, not being treated in the same way. And just think, a few weeks
00:20before we had the Manchester airport attacks and those prosecutions took many, many months
00:25to come through. I promise you there is a strong feeling and perception of two-tier policing
00:30and two-tier justice in this country and nothing, this report says, convinces me.
00:35And on the publication of this report, would you like to take this opportunity to thank
00:40the police for their work during the riots? Well, of course I thank the police for the
00:44work they did during the riots and they had a very, very hard time. Many of them were
00:48injured. It was deeply, deeply unpleasant. But this happened because there was a vacuum.
00:55It happened because we were not told the truth about the identity of the attacker.
00:59I made a plea 24 hours after those horrendous murders. I said, for goodness sake, tell us
01:05who it is. Tell us the truth. And I think that's the big lesson that ought to be learned from
01:09this.
