Dans cette suite du film à succès, Stargirl Caraway (Grace VanderWaal), une ado chanteuse et libre d'esprit dont la gentillesse fait des miracles dans la vie de ceux qui l'entourent, quitte Mica, en Arizona, pour rejoindre un monde plus vaste, celui de la musique, des rêves et des possibilités. Quand sa mère Ana (Judy Greer) est engagée comme costumière pour un film, toutes deux s'installent à Los Angeles, où Stargirl rencontrera un groupe éclectique de personnes. Les frères Evan et Terrell (Elijah Richardson et Tyrel Jackson Williams), cinéastes en herbe, le voisin M. Mitchell (Judd Hirsch) et une musicienne que Stargirl admire, Roxanne Martel (Uma Thurman), joueront tous un rôle important dans ce nouveau chapitre de la vie de Stargirl.
