00:00The Department of Health targets the spread of missile catch-up immunization in different parts of the country.

00:07Some are challenging the use of vaccines.

00:11We have news from PTV's Bian Manalo, live.

00:18Alan, the Department of Health will discuss in the Media Health Literacy Conference here in Bataan

00:24the implementation of the immunization program of the government

00:27that will provide free vaccines against various diseases,

00:30including the Human Papilloma Virus.

00:35This is also timely because of the continuous increase in the number of cases of TIGDAS in some regions of the country

00:40that the Department of Health has reported.

00:42That is why the agency targets the use of large-scale missile catch-up immunization

00:47in different parts of the Philippines

00:49to contain the spread of TIGDAS.

00:52Although the disease is contagious, the spread of TIGDAS can be prevented by vaccines

00:57and the cleanliness of the body and surroundings can be maintained.

01:01The government and the local government are also encouraging the public

01:05to visit the nearest health center in their area

01:09for additional information on free vaccines.

01:12This is also in line with the advice of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

01:17to strengthen the health sector.

01:21In fact, the Department of Health's eight priority programs

01:25include vaccination.

01:27Vaccine hesitancy is also discussed.

01:30Some of the challenges faced by health workers in vaccinating

01:33are the misinformation and lack of education of people about vaccines.

01:37In fact, in a survey released in 2021,

01:416 out of 10 Filipino youths are vaccine hesitant.

01:45The second is cultural beliefs and gender roles.

01:48And lastly, the limited resources to go to health care facilities.

01:54Alan, because of this, the government has also strengthened

01:57the Mandatory Basic Immunization Act

01:59that will provide free vaccines for children up to 5 years old

02:04in all government hospitals and health centers throughout the Philippines.
