Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified before a US Senate committee after the discovery that personal Facebook data was illicitly used to influence the US elections.

00:002018 is an incredibly important year for elections, not just with the U.S. midterms, but around

00:05the world.

00:06There are important elections in India, in Brazil, in Mexico, in Pakistan and in Hungary

00:11that we want to make sure that we do everything we can to protect the integrity of those elections.

00:30It's clear now that we didn't do enough to prevent these tools from being used for harm

00:54as well.

00:55And that goes for fake news, for foreign interference in elections and hate speech, as well as developers

01:01and data privacy.

01:03We didn't take a broad enough view of our responsibility, and that was a big mistake.
