Brut India spoke to Dhruv Rathee. The 23-year-old has amassed more than half a million subscribers on YouTube doing political videos, many criticising the Narendra Modi-led administration.

00:30Then came 2014 when Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India.

00:34Everyone thought, including me, that he would provide some alternative to the corruption which was already going on.

00:40But he ended up becoming even worse than the people who came before him.

00:49When I made the first video, which was political, it was out of frustration, you know.

00:55It was frustration to see the Indian media being sold out to the government.

01:00No one telling the truth, everyone spreading fake news and their propaganda.

01:24On 22nd March 2017, corruption has become legal in India.

01:35It is also known as lobbying.

01:37It has become legal since the Finance Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on 22nd March 2017.

01:43And all the mainstream media is silent on this.

01:54Currently, my only plan is to make this my full time career on YouTube.

02:15due to which hatred can spread between Hindus, Muslims and Christians.

02:24And this police complaint is so fake that even you will start laughing when you hear about it.

02:40Both of those videos got into YouTube trending and now a lot more people know about that.

02:45I want to focus on social reform in people.

02:49You know, change their mind, open up their mind about different viewpoints, opinions.

02:55Make them critically think what they're doing in life and always make them think for themselves.

03:00Because a big problem of many issues in India is that people are blindly believing

03:07their elders, their politicians, their celebrities.

03:10I want to stop this worship culture.
