00:00We fisherfolks were just on the empty roads and we couldn't see what was going to happen
00:22and what was coming next.
00:53One fine day I was having a lunch with my fresh fish.
00:56He just said, why not just bring the fresh fish to our colony, you know, there are people interested to buy.
01:00And that's how it started. I just went for a fun with 25-30 kgs of fish on 2nd of April and the fish got over in like 20 minutes.
01:22One fine day we were doing almost 3000 kgs a day.
01:30That includes delivering to all parts of Mumbai and delivering to the B2B wholesalers, most of the e-commerce players.
01:37And we were just calculating the numbers.
01:40We were buying from 50 fishing boats which were actually supporting 500 fisherfolks.
01:44And there were hundreds of fisherwomen included in that as well.
01:52It's a very complex supply chain.
02:01So early morning I have to wake up at 3 to collect the fish from those fisherfolks which come in early morning or the evening.
02:08So we collect the fish, we pack it nicely into the ice boxes and we take it to the distribution centre where the cleaning and the cutting happens, the boxing happens.
02:22When I came back, there were a lot of struggles, a lot of people telling me why did you come back, you had a job there and all.
02:34But I had a different vision, I had a longer vision.
02:37Fisheries is on the verge of collapse and that should not collapse.
02:41Because young people, young generation and newer generation which are not joining this industry should come back in this industry.
02:48It's a respectable industry and that's what my aim is, that's what I'm fighting for.
02:51So that my own people, community start taking fisheries as an occupation.
02:56So they don't turn back on this industry.
