Can India Save Its Havelis At All?

India’s famed havelis are dying a silent death across the country.

01:00There are so many, you know, big ones, small ones, big ones, big ones, big ones, big ones,

01:29but all in their own way extremely beautiful and worthy of preservation, if you ask me.

01:59Every month I would say more than two or three havelis are getting demolished.

02:10I am saying it for last six years.

02:12So I can, you can imagine that the kind of demolitions we had in past, in last six years,

02:18more than 50 havelis have been wiped out from the city.

02:22What we are trying to do is we are trying to convince them that this is our pride, you know.

02:27We want to make it a public kind of a, you know, public movement.

02:33I'm not worried. I'm pretty much sure that we are going to lose this town.

02:39You know, we are going to lose this heritage very soon unless the government pitch in.

02:45But I guess our rich heritage means nothing to you.
