00:24The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, or BFAR,
00:29is the first legislated multispecies marine hatchery in Central Luzon
00:34located in Barangay Kinawan, Bagakbataan.
00:38It was approved by the Republic Act 11912.
00:42BFAR Regional Director Alfredo Cruz said
00:45that the facility, which is worth P32 million,
00:49will strengthen fish seed production,
00:52support aquaculture enterprises,
00:56and strengthen marine resource sustainability in the province and nearby areas.
01:02This is also in line with the government's initiative for food security.
01:07The hatchery is efficiently operated using solar energy
01:11to ensure that it will not have negative effects on the environment
01:16before it can help in reducing it.
01:19When operational, the hatchery will serve as an important center
01:24for fish seed production, broodstock maintenance,
01:27and training for fishery stakeholders, government officials,
01:32and state universities and colleges.
