00:00I'd love to ask Governor Lancia a question, if you don't mind.
00:05How did you convince Hyundai to come to your great state?
00:08How did you convince them to come to Louisiana?
00:11It was easy.
00:12I told them we were going to have a great president this year, right?
00:15Look, again, I think that this is America seeing the America First policy in action,
00:20right?
00:21It's not just promises.
00:22It's about action.
00:23And not only did, and I appreciate their patience, because all last year, many of these legislators
00:28to speak in the Senate president, we worked on making Louisiana as friendly for business
00:33as the president is making America.
00:35We worked on public safety.
00:36We worked on educational reform, which the president's been working on.
00:39We worked on tax reform, historic tax reform.
00:42And what I can tell you is to echo what the president said.
00:45In Louisiana right now, I believe before the summer's over, we'll have $50 billion worth
00:50of construction projects going on in Louisiana.
00:53That is a record, Mr. President.
00:55It has never happened under any other president, under any other administration, and I can
00:59only look at the leadership that he has brought, not only to the White House, but to the world
01:04as well.
01:05And so to have these executives come here and say, hey, we want to invest in America,
01:11because for decades now, what Americans have seen is jobs being offshore rather than onshore.
01:16And today's announcement is exactly that.
01:18This is a message for all America that this president and their governors out there care
01:24about the American worker.
01:25Mr. President, I have to tell you that if you have any trouble getting permits, which
01:31you won't, come see me.
01:32I'll get them for you.
01:33All right.
01:34But you're not going to have any trouble.
01:35You know, we had when I first got involved in this world of politics, when I went down
01:40to Louisiana, you know, the two big LNG plants and they were stuck for 14 years, they tried
01:45to get permits.
01:46And these were $12 billion and I think $15 billion plants.
01:51And they were working on it for 14 years in one case, I think 13 or 14 in the other.
01:57And I was able to get them in less than a week.
01:59And they were shocked.
02:01And probably some consultant got a lot of money for doing it.
02:04But nobody spoke to me about it other than this gentleman at the time.
02:07He mentioned it and he did.
02:08They were in very much different positions, but they wanted to see if we could break the
02:12log jam.
02:13And I got it done.
02:14And in one case, I actually got it done in one day.
02:17And the other case, I didn't do as well.
02:18It took a full week.
02:20And they built and they're up and they're very successful now.
02:22That was a long time ago, but we got it done immediately.
02:25You'll have no trouble getting your permits.
02:27I guarantee these people you're dealing with the top of the line.
02:30Okay, but just in case, call me.
