Cebu fire guts 177 houses

177 houses were gutted by fire in Sitio Talong, Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City on March 23. The blaze, which reached fourth alarm, displaced 805 individuals. Fire investigators are still determining the cause.

For Rosita Genon, 52, the fire felt like hell. As flames engulfed their homes, residents scrambled to escape.

Genon said she was unable to save anything as the fire spread rapidly, reducing their house to ashes.
