00:00Trinidad and Tobago Red Force are in second position in the regional four-day standings,
00:05just a point behind Guyana Harpy Eagles, with two rounds to go. Joshua De Silva's men trounced
00:10Barbados in two days in the last round going into the next clash against Jamaica. The captain
00:15says the objective is to take it game by game.
00:17For me, I'm just trying to keep it simple. I have a lot of leaders around me that have
00:20been in those positions and a lot of experience with me, Jason Mohamed, Kari Pay, Brian Charles.
00:24All of them have been really helpful. And it's not a one-man show. It's Trinidad and
00:28Tobago we're playing for. It's 16 guys fighting out there, including the staff and everybody.
00:33So for us, it's just going about doing what we're doing and trying to get results for
00:36the country.
00:37The match against Jamaica is a pink ball affair in Tiruba from April 2nd, for which preparations
00:42are in progress. While the Scorpions have had their ups and downs, De Silva says taking
00:47the men from Reggieland for granted is asinine.
00:49We're hoping for a win. We are going to win, I would like to say, but it's still cricket
00:54at the end of the day. They are a very good team. They have quality players. John Campbell,
00:57the captain, Jermaine Blackwood, who is a West Indies player. Mark Keenum, who bowls
01:01really well at this level, also made his test debut in Australia. So they have quality and
01:05they are a team that can show up on the day. For us, it's not taking them for granted.
01:09By no means are they a walkover.
01:11Coach Riyad Emrith is pleased with what his players have achieved to get to this stage.
01:16Having said that, he knows there is more to be done if TNT Red Force want to lift their
01:20first four-day trophy in close to two decades.
01:23The energy level is still there. The guys know there is a job to be done and it's still
01:28in touching distance. We haven't crossed the finish line as yet. So our focus is on the
01:34next game, which is against Jamaica. We need to get a good result there. As long as we
01:39take care of Jamaica, then the final game will basically be a final.
01:44The 44-year-old has travelled to many countries for cricket and is therefore quite experienced
01:49in the business. As such, he is always willing to assist those who seek his advice.
01:54I've played cricket with probably every single player on the team. I've led some of them
01:59by playing as well. So I get a lot of respect from the team, which is important. I give
02:04them that respect. I think we are a very good family. We are a good family unit and we have
02:10that camaraderie, that team spirit, that energy on and off the field. I'm fortunate to have
02:16some of the best players in the Caribbean on this team. They've been showing it throughout
02:22the season. The character that they've been showing throughout the season is something
02:27any coach would want to have in their team.
02:30Just for the record, TNT won last year's four-day match against Jamaica at Sabina Park by an
02:34innings and 125 runs.
