00:00Bollywood and New Zealand have a very good connection, so a lot of Bollywood movies have
00:09been shot in New Zealand. New Zealand is one of the most beautiful places on earth, we would say
00:15and Bollywood being an integral part, we want more and more
00:19movies from Bollywood to come to New Zealand and shoot. So that was one of the main things we discussed.
00:30The Prime Minister there, so we always discuss at a big general level because we want to promote
00:35New Zealand here, we want to promote more linkages between both countries and Bollywood is an
00:40important part of this relationship.
00:47Aamir is a superstar par excellence, so every interaction with him is priceless, it's invaluable
00:55and same was that meeting, so it all went very well.
01:00So as I said that it's very important for New Zealand, it's very important for New Zealand
01:09economy and New Zealand also is very important for Bollywood because it's got one of the
01:14best sceneries in the world.
01:20Yes, those are things that can be discussed and will be discussed in the future and
01:26that's how trade or business between both countries will work but it'll take some time
01:32and it's up to the relevant authorities, I'm not someone to make a comment on that but
01:37that'll be discussed.
01:44So we have a very strong diaspora in New Zealand, the biggest city in New Zealand
01:49is Auckland, so 11% of Auckland is people of Indian origin. So of course, the Indian population
01:56is a big market for Bollywood but Bollywood is now transcending the Indian population,
02:02it is getting into mainstream also other countries like we've got people from Malaysia
02:06living there, Malaysians love Bollywood and even the general public is getting more and more
02:12interested in Bollywood.
02:18Of course, when any film production comes to New Zealand, it brings in a lot of investment,
02:23brings in a lot of local jobs for line production and all that. So that's the
02:28whole idea, we want more interaction, a more boost for both economies,
02:33more boost for both parties there which is Bollywood and New Zealand.
02:42So we've had two days in Delhi and about two days in Mumbai, our prime minister
02:48has met with Prime Minister Modi, they've discussed a wide range of things, a lot of
02:54cooperation on a lot of different levels. Our Prime Minister of New Zealand was the chief guest
03:00at Ryasena Dialogue and that was also a premier defense geopolitical conference,
03:07so that was really really important, New Zealand Prime Minister being the chief guest
03:12at the Ryasena Dialogue. Both trade ministers met, we had a big event with industry where
03:17Honorable Piyush Goyal was there, Honorable Todd McClay was there and it was announced that the
03:23trade negotiations, the free trade negotiations with both countries will commence. There was a
03:28lot of diplomacy around cricket and of course, we've spoken about Bollywood and now here in
03:34Mumbai, we are again meeting with the governments, with different industry titans and as well as all
03:41other stakeholders. The Prime Minister went to Banketeer Stadium this morning and they again
03:46played cricket, so quite a busy and a very very successful trip to India overall.
03:57Yes, so it was Chef Ranveer who had come and he made the famous Bombay Vada Pav and served it to
04:05our tourism minister and served it to Ross Taylor, the New Zealand cricketer and also to the very
04:12famous Ajaz Patel, who is also well known in India. So Ranveer is a celebrity chef and he was
04:18there to bring the Mumbai street food to our team.
