00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. doubled the subsistence allowance of the soldiers.
00:05That's what Ken and the patient said.
00:09As a recognition of the military strength of the Philippines that promotes peace in the country,
00:14President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved the Executive Order No. 84
00:19that approves the increase of the subsistence allowance of all the official and enlisted personnel of the AFP.
00:25It means that from the previous 150 pesos daily allowance of the soldiers for food and other expenses,
00:31it has increased to 350 pesos.
00:34That's equal to 133% increase.
00:37As a result, 10,500 soldiers will be accepted every month.
00:42This increase includes the trainees and probationary second lieutenants and NCOs
00:47who are currently under training,
00:49as well as the citizen military training cadets and reservists.
00:52It is stated in the Executive Order that the subsistence allowance of the AFP should only be increased
00:57for their well-being and as a recognition of their sacrifice and perseverance in defending and promoting the sovereignty
01:04and territorial integrity of the Philippines.
01:06According to the EO, the current value of the subsistence allowance for an active soldier is not enough.
01:12This allowance of the AFP will be adjusted in 2015.
01:15The fund will be extracted from the appropriations for the AFP under the 2025 General Appropriations Act
01:22and other relevant sources of the Department of Budget and Management.
01:25In order to ensure peace,
01:27the President put first the oath-taking of the Local Amnesty Board, Eastern Visayas,
01:32where he gave the support of the government in securing the peace process.
01:36You have been asking me to form this board for quite a while.
01:43And that's finally happened.
01:47And I know that you are waiting to work very well and very hard
01:52to make sure that this peace process that we have embarked upon will continue.
01:59And now we are no longer just talking about it at a very high level.
02:04We are now actually putting on, making it work on the ground.
02:10The President also ordered that they should work together
02:12to advance different ideologies and beliefs in order to promote peace.
02:17The Amnesty Board is also a great thing to encourage the rebel groups to return to the government.
02:23The prospect now that we have the Amnesty Board here,
02:27then there is now a mechanism that is in place
02:31for us to bring back into the fold of the law,
02:35into society, those who have opposed the state for a while,
02:41for a good long while, to the point of adopting the principles of armed struggle.
