00:00The concept revolves around Vice and the various roles she's become known for within and beyond
00:10show business.
00:11Each layout focuses on a different hat that she wears.
00:16The first layout shows Vice as a comedian and how she made the caballo a big part of
00:20her branding.
00:22It features a miniature jeep with horse decal and details.
00:26It's also a nod to her father who used to be a jeepney driver.
00:29The second layout focuses on Meme as a fashion icon and how she's very vocal about social
00:35issues.
00:36And then the third layout is an homage to GGV and Vice Ganda as a host.
00:40The cover layout is about her as a breadwinner both on screen and in real life.
00:45The cover is also inspired by Salvador Dali's sculpture Retrospective Bust of a Woman.
00:51BJ Pascual was also the one who photographed the cover.
00:55I think the day before he came from Bangkok and then parang in the morning he had another
01:01shoot and then our shoot was in the afternoon and he was super professional.
01:05Like ang aga niya dumating and even the photos like it came out the way we envisioned it
01:10to be.
01:12Rocket Sets also worked on the production design.
01:14We've worked with them mostly in 2024 and we knew that they could easily pull off the
01:19vision.
01:20We wanted it to be clean and simple because we knew Vice was already a larger than life
01:25personality.
01:26Hi, this is Vice Ganda and I'm here at the preview cover shoot.
01:42We wanted to start the year strong and we can all agree that there's no one quite as
01:47Vice Ganda.
01:48A cultural icon who has established and exponentially grown her space in the entertainment landscape.
01:54She has excelled in various fronts and we wanted to highlight and celebrate the different
01:57hats she wears with this shoot and the timing couldn't have been more perfect coming from
02:01her breakthrough performance in And The Breadwinner Is.
02:05January covers are usually a challenge since production is done around the holidays.
02:09So we're really glad that our schedules aligned and we were able to shoot meme even amidst
02:14Showtime, MMFF promotions, and the December festivities.
02:17For this, we're happy to have worked with Eman Concepcion and Bern Rodriguez who brought
02:22to life the modernized old Hollywood glam with a matte base and nude lip and floor-length
02:27waves and a sleek bun with sculptural ends.
02:29We partnered with McDonald's for the refreshments and working with the team was a delight as
02:34always.
02:37Time check, 8.30.
02:38Meme came here right after Showtime and you know it might be deep into the night but we're
02:43still at it.
02:44We're still going at it.
02:45All in the name of fashion.
02:47So we're here at the cover shoot with Vice Ganda.
02:50We're currently preparing for the second look.
02:53For this shoot in particular, we have four custom looks prepared by different designers.
02:58So for the second look, Vice is going to wear a custom look by Dropda on with a structured
03:04hip and corseted bodice and we accessorized with jewelry from Adam Pereira.
03:11So for this cover layout in particular, we really wanted to place a premium on the fashion
03:16looks, especially considering Vice's stature in the industry.
03:20And throughout her career, she's been known for her bold style and for her fashion-forward
03:27sensibility.
03:28So we really wanted to capture that in this cover shoot in particular.
03:32So as mentioned by Bax earlier, in each layout, we tried to capture the different roles that
03:38Vice has taken on all throughout her career.
03:41And that also reflects in the choice of fashion.
03:44One look which is worth highlighting in my opinion is the cover layout where Vice wore
03:49a custom look by Keith Sakasas matched with a headpiece by Narek Beltran.
03:55And interestingly, Narek Beltran actually collaborated with a sculptor, Sandino Martin,
04:00to bring the piece to life.
04:02And it's actually really nice to see in person because it actually looks like an actual baguette.
04:09Everyone on set was in awe of that particular piece.
04:12And I think it really also captures not only Vice's recent film, but also how she's really
04:17championed for comedy as a serious form of art in the Philippines, but also as a breadwinner
04:23for the LGBTQIA plus in the country.
04:28Hi Preview, and we're about to shoot our last layout.
04:32Let's do this!
04:33Ready Papa?
04:35Okay, so it's 9.20pm and we're about to shoot our last layout.
04:39So thankfully, we're still on time.
04:41It really helps to be working with a team that really is committed to a vision and committed
04:46to the schedule.
04:47So thankfully, with PJ, Buer, and Eman, Rocket Sets, the Preview team, and of course Vice,
04:53Ganda, we were able to achieve that.
04:58The fashion film offers an intimate behind-the-scenes look.
05:01We wanted to make it look cinematic, but also showing the creative process of the whole shoot.
05:07Each layout shows a different role she embodies within and beyond show business.
05:12Vice as a host, a comedian, and a fashion icon.
05:18Thanks guys!
05:19It's a wrap!
05:20Happy 2025!
05:22Woohoo!
05:24Actually, when I saw the deck, I was really excited as always.
05:28Because I love working with Preview, and also I love working with Ate Vice.
05:34So when I saw the deck, I thought it was perfect because Ate Vice hasn't done it yet for Preview.
05:41My favorite layout?
05:43Actually, all of them.
05:45Each of the layouts are very curated per concept.
05:51It's like they have their own magic.
05:54It's different from Jeepney, Red, Moon.
05:59It's also different from our Breadwinner layout.
06:03So all of them have their own level.
06:07So when I first got the deck, I was so excited to do it.
06:10But then, I have a shoot today.
06:12So Marge was like, please can you do it because the deck really suits you.
06:17And I was like, I really want to do it.
06:18So it's a good thing that I was pushed because my first shoot got moved to the morning.
06:24And it was just in time for me to set up here.
06:27So I really, really wanted to do it because the deck was so beautiful that Preview team made.
06:31And I'm so happy it happened.
06:33Every layout is so different and well thought of.
06:37So it's fun to do because every layout has its own story.
06:41And it's great that every layout has a tie-in to Vice's life.
06:47And the last layout was perfect.
06:49There will be a GGB revival in February.
06:54We didn't know that.
06:56So it's great.
06:57For this cover, I think the deck was so clear.
07:01I think Vice really gets what was needed from the shoot.
07:04So every layout, it's like he's giving different things.
07:06So it was great.
07:09I think I speak for a lot of people in my generation when I say that Meme Vice is an icon.
07:15Growing up, she was really the figure I looked up to when it came to being queer.
07:19And having that kind of representation on screen really mattered.
07:22So having her as our first cover of 2025 was a big deal.
07:26And I'm personally very, very honored to have written about her and to get to know her behind the curtain.
07:32You know, she made Dabble in Comedy, and she's a master of the genre.
07:35But she's someone who takes her job very, very seriously.
07:39And I'm really just happy to have started this year with her.
07:43She regards the genre with the utmost solemnity.
07:46And I hope that people see that, not just with And The Breadwinner Is, but with everything she does as an artist.
07:51During the shoot, Meme Vice was very somber.
07:54I'd say she was in battery-saving mode.
07:56You know, she had an expressionless face.
07:59And from time to time, she would crack a joke.
08:01She would joke about her outfits or the props she was given.
08:04And it's in those moments where you really see the Vice candidate that people know and have come to love.
08:10And I think that just goes to show that Meme is a very versatile person when it comes to her craft and when it comes to her personality.
08:17And that's why she's lasted in the industry as long as she has.
08:20That's why she's always selling out theaters when she has an MMFF entry.
08:24And that's why people love her.
08:26I'm really just happy to have gotten to know her beyond the larger-than-life being we see on its showtime every weekday.
08:34I think what we can appreciate and learn from Meme Vice as an artist
08:37is that there's a seriousness that's required in the job, but we don't also have to take ourselves too seriously.
08:43And it's something that's reflected in her line of work and the filmography that she's invested in.
08:48And the character she presents every time she goes in front of the madlam people have really, really come to love their Meme.
08:55And I hope that when we see this cover and that when we learn about Meme and her different quirks
09:01and the things that she's dabbled in throughout her career,
09:04we see that she's been victorious in her own way.
09:07Because she's really deserving of whatever comes her way as one of the most successful entertainers of the country.
09:14She's a true winner, and the winner takes it all.
