Amid Kashmir's water crisis, dry weather set off alarm bells

India-administered Kashmir is grappling with water scarcity amid dry weather. While the long-awaited arrival of rain has provided some relief, authorities and residents are scrambling to find ways to address the issue.

01:34There used to be a lot of water in this area.

01:56Unfortunately, for the past few years, people have turned this area into a dumping site.

02:03A lot of garbage is being thrown on the banks of this dumping site.

02:07Most of the people are associated with agriculture.

02:12So, this water is used to grow crops.

02:19If this water is not used, agriculture will also end.

02:22If this water is not used, life will end.

02:35So far, we have run a four-phase cleaning drive.

02:43We have cleaned 80% of the riverbank.

02:48We will clean the remaining portion as well.
