Residents of the Codavisa neighborhood in Bolivia’s capital of La Paz tried to salvage their belongings and pets from their wrecked homes on Tuesday (March 11) after a landslide struck a day earlier. 00:16The La Paz mayor's office launched a rescue effort to temporarily shelter the animals

00:21until their owners could reclaim them.

00:25If you don't have a place to leave them, leave them in zoonosis, leaving their data and everything,

00:30so that when this is taken care of, you can also pick them up,

00:33because take into account that they are part of the family.

00:36They are practically like scared children.

00:39I have one in my arms right now who is scared.

00:41Authorities attributed the landslide to years of heavy rainfall saturating the soil.

00:47In Chascapampa, another landslide on Tuesday claimed a life,

00:51destroying a house and prompting a rescue effort to recover the victim from the rubble.
