The True Deservers of Our Zakat – Day Labourers

Zakat is not just charity it is a duty, a means of purifying our wealth and supporting those in desperate need.

Among the most deserving of our Zakat are day labourers hardworking individuals who struggle to earn enough for their families.

They toil from sunrise to sunset, yet their income barely covers a meal, let alone basic necessities.

📖 Allah (SWT) commands us in the Quran:
"Zakat expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy…"
— Surah At-Tawbah (9:60)

Many day labourers live in extreme poverty, unable to secure food, shelter, or medical care.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ reminded us of the immense rewards of helping them:
"The best charity is to satisfy a hungry person."
