00:00Your Excellency, Madam President, Natalija Pirc Musar, thank you very much for speaking to CGTN.
00:06Thank you for the invitation.
00:08Let's start with your perspective, your take about collaboration or relations between Slovenia and China at this moment.
00:18Slovenia always had a good relationship with China. Basically, we are trying to cooperate with everybody.
00:24Being a small-sized country, you know, it's a necessity to be open-minded.
00:28The push for a better relationship in the last couple of years was also the decision of the Slovenian government to send many business delegations to China.
00:39Of course, we do have a deficit in bilateral trade, that's the obvious fact.
00:44But in the last couple of years, we sent four business delegations to China to see what China can offer and definitely what Slovenia can offer to China.
00:54From Slovenia's perspective, what is China's role in today's world?
00:59China's role is a big role. China is a superpower, like the United States, like some other big countries.
01:07And this is the reason why the obligation of superpowers is on a high level.
01:14But the permanent five countries of the Security Council, they bear a huge responsibility for maintaining peace and security.
01:24China is one of them. We must not discuss peace and security on this planet without China at the table. That's the fact.
01:34So this is my vision, you know, that China and the rest of the superpowers, they have to do whatever is necessary not to put us in another catastrophe.
01:45I do not want the Third World War. We currently do have 55 armed conflicts around the globe, which is the highest number after the Second World War.
01:54The respect of the international law is a must. The international law must be on the table again.
02:02We cannot neglect the basic rules that we established after the Second World War.
02:08Territorial integrity of the countries, sovereign equality of the countries, two basic values of the international law.
02:15War is prohibited by the international law.
02:20When we do discuss enemies on this planet, we only have one common one, and that's climate crisis.
02:31You know, China is doing a lot on green energy. To be honest, I was not really very pleased to hear that President Trump said that he's not going to respect the Paris Agreement.
02:44Multilateralism is something that we have to believe in because this is something which could bring prosperity and peace.
02:51And one more thing, sir. Whenever there is a conflict, war is not the tool to solve the problem. Negotiations are. Open dialogue is.
