00:00This story has always seemed odd right from the beginning, and when I say odd, I mean
00:07unique. Tourists going missing is unusual, even just the fact she had a bright pink parka.
00:13When it comes to tourists in Yellowknife, especially Japanese tourists, they usually
00:18come as a group, and they're usually well-protected, well-cared for, well-welcomed. It would almost
00:24seem impossible that someone could go missing.
00:29Atsumi's case was definitely the first case I ever heard of in my nine years here. Some
00:34of those articles at the time were saying, you know, it's one of those destinations where
00:38you plan to disappear, but I don't know how many people I know that have planned to come
00:43to Yellowknife to disappear.
00:46Two years after you cover most stories, you understand what happened. This one, we're
00:50still making guesses. That's unusual for us.
