00:08But this next cowboy comes from Compton, California.
00:15Once you live somewhere for so long, you adapt to it, and it becomes a way of life.
00:21Gang-related shooting.
00:22An explosion of crime.
00:25The industry can be okay, but then with two blocks down, it can be at war.
00:31But the hill is like a different way of life.
00:35Blood and crip.
00:37We all come as one.
00:39In the inner city, you would never know what's right there.
00:43The hill is about 70 years old.
00:46Many a cowboy's come up out of this place.
00:50It was like a training ground for future black cowboys.
00:54The history of this place is infused with the community.
00:58It didn't start out as being a place to stop the gangs, but in the end, that's what it
01:02has done.
01:03It's either you're going to be a gangbanger or you're going to be a cowboy.
01:06You can't do both.
01:09And then the fire changed everything.
01:13Story this morning, horse owners at a South L.A. stable have less than two hours to remove
01:17their animals after the city declared the structure unsafe.
01:21Somebody doused the horse in gasoline and burned the horse up.
01:25It closes down.
01:27Pretty much it's nested life out of everybody.
01:36My family's into gangs.
01:38I'm going to kind of watch them, learn from their mistakes.
01:42They're the world champions, it's the hill.
01:44It could be done again.
01:47Where we were got taken away from us, but we can bring it back better.
