00:19Moving on to business news, the Department of Trade and Industry seeks to double its revenues
00:32in the halal trade for 2025. DTI Program Manager Alim Sibi Kigiampa said the DTI hopes to build
00:41on the 7.9 billion pesos generated through the successful Halal-Friendly Philippines campaign
00:47last year. He said they plan to expand this year in the United States, South Korea, Japan and Turkey.
00:54Last year, the Philippines made its debut at the Saudi International Halal Expo and the Abu Dhabi
01:01Food Expo with the Halal-Friendly Philippines brand, and earned trade sales of 104.5 million
01:08pesos. Kigiampa said more Filipino manufacturers are showing interest in obtaining halal
01:13certification to penetrate lucrative markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He said the
01:20DTI aims to strengthen the local halal industry by ensuring that all products are Sharia-compliant
01:27and strictly adhering to halal certification standards.
01:31Meanwhile, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation has alerted the public against a
01:35new scam where fraudsters are impersonating its top officials. PAGCOR said several individuals
01:42and business owners have complained that they have received various messages that falsely
01:47claim to be from Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco and President and COO Wilma Esma. Tengco advised
01:54the public to avoid engaging with any unsolicited messages from those claiming to be PAGCOR
02:00executives. Any communication must be verified through PAGCOR's official website or legitimate
02:05platforms, such as the state gaming agency's official trunkline, Numers. Earlier, Tengco warned
02:12the public against a fake website that claims to issue gaming licenses and accreditations.
