00:00A major competition is targeted this year by a veteran member of the Philippine men's boxing team, Marvin Tabamo.

00:15The chance of a veteran member of the Philippine men's boxing team, Marvin Tabamo, is getting closer and closer.

00:20He has been dreaming of playing in the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand.

00:26Since Tabamo joined the team as a national athlete in 2014, he has not been able to play even once in the biennial games.

00:34This is because of his brother, Tabamo, and his team that is fighting for the slot that will be sent to the SEA Games,

00:40the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for Carlo Paalam, and the two-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist for Roger Ladon.

00:47And because Ladon was not part of the national pool, he is now one of the coaching staff of the national team.

00:53At the same time, Paalam's weight gain in the featherweight division, the former flyweight class,

00:59is a big chance for Tabamo to enter the one-slot for the 51kg category.

01:06My goal this year is to be able to play in the SEA Games.

01:10That is what I am targeting this year.

01:14Although there have been a lot of SEA Games, although I have been in the national team for 10 years,

01:21I have been through a lot and I really want to be able to play in the SEA Games this year.

01:26And to achieve this, Tabamo also shared his inspiration to pursue and win the slot pocket of the SEA Games this December.

01:37We are not kidding, that is really true.

01:39What I am looking for is for my family.

01:42That is really my ambition to win the SEA Games because I also have a hard time in the provinces.

01:49It is really hard for us.

01:50That is why I always bring my family with me, even if we are poor.

01:57That is what I am really pushing for myself.

02:02For now, Tabamo's training continues with the entire national team,

02:06currently sparring with amateur Japanese boxers,

02:09at the Philippine Sports Commission Facility inside Teacher's Camp in Baguio City.
